Publisher's summary

Born on the wrong side of the blanket, matchmaker Sophie Reynard understands the consequences of unbridled desire all too well. Despite the many highborn friends she has matched, falling in love with an aristocrat without a pedigree of her own would be an act of futility. But that doesn't stop her from succumbing to one evening of anonymous passion.

Nicholas Tenbury, Marquess of Ancroft, knows nothing of Sophie's lineage. He knows only that the enchanting beauty captured his heart in one night and then fled, leaving no trace of her identity. But when he seeks answers from London's finest matchmaker, he finds none other than the woman herself - stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the attraction they share! Now the enamored Marquess has no choice but to sway Sophie with seduction.

Didn't finish..

Any additional comments?

I read this entire series and loved every story but Sophie was just to TSTL sometimes. Her thinking that she just couldn't "see" herself was silly then she slept with our hero in Italy, ran away, then decided to be his lover when they got back to London. It was just too much. I couldn't finish. Sorry.. I gave it 3 stars because I liked Nicholas so much.
As always, Ashfore MacNab was fabulous.

Wish there were more to the series!

I absolutely adore the series. I somehow managed to skip the first two books and read the third and I liked it so much that I purchased the last two books and read them all in three days. Now I must go back and read the first two books. The characters are built so completely that as a reader you really feel connected to them. Yes as most books go, in order to have the story last longer, the main characters always have to fight their inner feelings and go against what they truly want in order to “save” the person they love and this series is no different. To tell the truth I do not find this appealing at all in romance. Perhaps that is a personal fault of mine and not that of the author. And yes I do believe in sacrifice but once I make up my mind I dive in and don’t leave room for doubt and try never to second-guess myself. So it’s hard for me to see all the inner push and pull associated with characters in romance in general. Still, I strongly recommend at least the last three books I have read in the series regardless of my distaste for the parts mentioned.

too much repetition

I feel like this was written because maybe the author had a contract or something. The characters say the same thing over and over before they get to the point. I was disappointed with this. The rest of the series was good. But this one was ....

The worst if the series so far

I was so disappointed. There was no real mystery and Sophie’s angst about not ruining Nicholas’ reputation by marrying him while she is already pregnant was so tedious I couldn’t believe it. I liked Sophie through all the earlier books. I skipped through it and never even listened to the whole thing. I just couldn’t sit through it. I’d skip this and just go on to the next one if I were you. Read a summary in the reviews and just move in. The worst. I love regency romance and like the ones before this in the very same series but definitely recommend a skip for this one.
