Publisher's Summary

Step one: Kiss Cal again. Just one more kiss.

Step two: Kiss someone else to compare.

Step three: Permanently close the door on Cal Chase.

Once again, I bang on the connecting door to my dorm room, trying to be heard over the blaring music coming from the other side. My bestie should be living in that room, but no, she transferred to be with her boyfriend, and now I’m stuck sharing a wall with stupidly hot track star Cal Chase. My friends say I'm lucky, but his mere presence annoys me, along with his late-night music and the constant gaggle of giggly girls who visit. I’m the only one who can see right through that patented “Cal Charm”. He’s just another player, and I’m not game.

So, why the hell did I let him give me an out-of-this-world kiss under the stars the other night? It had to be the magic of the meteor shower. I can’t actually like him, right? I simply need to prove Cal’s stellar kiss was a fluke, and I know how to do it and in just three steps.

Should be easy, right?

Yeah, famous last words.

Cute & a little sexy NA novella

Note: This is part of the “Love at First Kiss” college romance novellas series. Each is penned by a different author and characters appear across books. That said, I haven’t read/listened to any of the others and didn’t feel that it detracted from my enjoyment.

Even though I’m not currently reading a lot of NA/college books - I was looking forward to listening to this one because I’ve enjoyed Tara September’s other books.

Enemies to Lovers is a trope that doesn’t always work for me because not all authors redeem/reconcile what has the MCs at odds to begin with. September didn’t have any problem pulling that off here. April Harris has an adjoining door between dorm rooms with Cal Chase. This means she gets a lot more information on him than she’d like, but not all is as she perceives.

There’s also a bit of grumpy/sunshine and forced proximity tropes which I enjoy. Cute, funny, and a little bit sexy. I enjoyed the banter between Cal & a hesitant April. I liked that they got to know each other through lots of conversations. At just over two hours, it was an adorable and enjoyable listen.

Hollie Jackson was wonderful. She has a great voice for the college age of all the characters. I also really liked her male voices too. Her transition between characters voices/accents/emotions was flawless.

Entire series is available on KU. Many thanks to Tara September for giving me a copy of the audiobook - shhhh… nobody tell her I would have bought it anyway because I always enjoy her stories. 😉

SWEET!

I really enjoyed it. This book was a fun read with plenty of humor! The narration was great. Although this book is pretty quick, it did not lack entertainment. The author did a great job with the character builds and plot. I look forward to reading more books from this author! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Now things have changed, and circumstances happen leading his couple to the craziest of times! Could one kiss bring these two together? Short, fun, and romantic, you will love this! Hollie Jackson gives a wonderful performance.

College Dorm Neighbor, Friend or Foe

When a friend moves out and a guy the h considers a ‘player’ moves in next door, tension prevails
The h has conflicting feelings but soundly determines to ignore her attraction and stick with her initial opinion
An entertaining story of college and lessons learned
I generally like this narrator but this wasn’t a favorite for me. The h voice and actions just seemed more high pitched than I prefer
A quick listen that’s entertaining, not angsty, which is often a great change of pace
I received a free audiobook for an honest and voluntary review

short simple not feeling it

I love that Tara September makes quickie romance read/listens that you can get a romance at lunch or on a quick drive. This time around there was something about April that I did not like. I did like Cal. I did not like the assumptions that April constantly made about Cal. There was some chemistry. Chemistry that April kept denying was there. Cal was a patient young man.

Hollie Jackson is a narrator that I have the most fun with and usually she is doing fantasy or paranormal. This narration I just did not like. I felt that most characters needing more distinction and the males needed to be a bit more rich.

One Kiss is All It Takes

Enemies to lovers plots are almost always fun to read, and this one is no exception. I love the way Cal is persistent without being stalker creepy and the way manages to stick to her stubborn, "I hate this guy" vibe, long after most women would have given in to the attraction between the too. Their chemistry makes for a fun story - all the way to their HEA ending.
In case you can't tell, I liked this one.

Check your tropes and expectations

I'm giving this a middle rating here, but don't assume that I didn't like this book. I liked it just fine, and I'm sure you will, too, if you like the book's tropes. I rated it lower because I doubt I'll remember it very long after posting this review.

April is neighbors in her coed dorm with Cal Chase, an attractive guy on the track team that she thinks is a womanizer and all-around bad news. They share a kiss while observing a meteor shower together, and the kiss rocks April's world. She begrudgingly starts to rethink the many negative thoughts she had about Cal, and he eventually proves himself to be a good guy.

As a listener, one of the reasons I wanted to try this was because I enjoyed Hollie Jackson's narration on other audiobooks I've heard. Hollie is fine here, and for most listeners, I think her voice will reinforce the story and not bring attention to itself.

This story is sweet and gets steamy at the end. It is part of a series, but you don't need to read other books in the series to enjoy this one. This is perfect if you want a fluffy and quick college-age romance.

Fun listen!

One More Kiss is a wonderfully written novella and an excellent addition to the Love at First Kiss series. The storyline is lighthearted, sweet, and fun, with loads of humour. The characters were absolutely delightful, and Hollie Jackson did a fantastic job bringing them to life. One More Kiss was a short and very enjoyable enemies-to-lovers romance, one I'm recommending.
