Publisher's summary

Imagine a united consciousness, an awareness of which all of our minds are a part - and a potential way out of the division, greed, and destruction that threaten to engulf our world. In the twentieth century, we were introduced to several subdivisions of the mind: the conscious, unconscious, subconscious, preconscious, and so on. But what we didn't know was that there was another level of consciousness, an all-encompassing, infinite dimension of shared intelligence: the One Mind.

This universal consciousness connects all of us through space and time. Even now, as you read these words, you are participating in the One Mind. Emerging studies have shown that the One Mind isn't just an idea; it's a reality. In this audiobook, Larry Dossey shares compelling research that supports the One Mind concept. These cases include experiences of:

  • shared thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations with a distant individual;
  • communication between humans and sentient nonhumans, such as pets;
  • large groups of animals - flocks, schools, herds - behaving in highly coordinated ways;
  • acquisition of previously unknown knowledge from a person who has died;
  • hidden or lost objects found through mental means alone; and
  • direct contact with a transcendent domain through near-death experiences.

Through engaging stories, fascinating case studies, and brilliant insights from great thinkers throughout history, One Mind explores the outer reaches of human consciousness. In it you will discover a new way to interpret the great mysteries of our experience and learn how to develop the empathy necessary to engender more love, peace, and collective awareness. The result is a rich new understanding of what it means to be human and a renewed hope that we can successfully confront the challenges we face at this crossroads in human history.

With One Mind, Dossey shows that we are not alone, that we are all one.

Compelling Evidence for an Open Mind

Philosphically you only need one case to argue for existance and I think Dr. Dossey provides several. If you have an open mind to the possibility that there is more to the universe than we can experience with our limited senses, this book provides enough evidence to at least accept the possibility that like a drop of water in the ocean, we are a part, but not the whole of a larger conciousness. Dr. Dossey presents a wide range of evidence, some, but not all of which I found compelling. If you are ready to stretch your mind a bit, this is a great listen.

This was very mind opening

I just finished Larry Dossey’s “The power of Prayer” book and this popped up as another title that was available. I loved the Power of Prayer and he talked about other para-psychological phenomena that piqued my interested. I have had several of these experiences myself. The One Mind was even more than I hoped for and I couldn’t stop listening. I really like that the author suggested so many more books throughout the chapters. I’m definitely checking out more books of Larry Dossey’s and of the authors he mentioned.

a Good way to enjoy time

I listen to audible books so I use my time as I am walking through life. To have the wisdom of great teachers being expressed instead of my own mindless chatter is rewarding . So at the end of my day I have great thoughts to share or
to reflect on. Thank you Larry and Audible for enriching my life.

more questions!

I wish the author had narrated. I think there are nuances he would have supplied.

A scientist view of why there is only 1 of us.

I really like how the arguments were laid out in a sequence that was easy to follow and understand. as the author explained things he gave real world examples that correlated with his findings. this book is just trying to show you the facts as they are not trying to move your opinion around That's your job.
