Publisher's summary

Pip and Shannon dreamed of living the good life. They wanted to slow down, grow their own food and spend more time with the people they love. But jobs and responsibilities got in the way - their chooks died, their fruit rotted and Pip ended up depressed and in therapy. So they did the only reasonable thing - they quit their jobs, pulled the children out of school and went searching for la dolce vita in Italy.

Pip sleeps in a tool shed, feasts under a Tuscan sun, works like a tractor in Calabria and, eventually, finds the good life she’s always dreamed of - though not at all where she expected.

interesting, beautiful journey

I found this book interesting. I got annoyed at the travelling challenges that this young family encountered. I guess I am not as patient a person as thought. But I was impressed with the grace and resiliance I learned from the main characters. This young family taught me to slow down and not be so judgemental. This was a journey of self discovery for me as much as the family in the story. I recommend this book. I smiled quite a lot while reading it.

travel diary

This book is well written. And provides great descriptions of each scene seen. However it's like reading someone's travel law against their diary at the same time time.

A moment of quiet escapism

Perfect for those looking for a calm escape. The tempo and tone was almost meditative.

Escapism lived out

For anyone who’s ever undertaken a trip of self discovery in Europe - this will bring back all those delightful memories of false starts, embracing beauty, misunderstandings and the kindness of strangers.

Leaves you feeling like your faith in humanity can be restored- just like travelling!

I was bored

I absolutely loved Pip's first book but couldn't get into this at all. It was just like listening to someone's boring diary and the reader was slow with little change in intonation. Disappointing.
