Publisher's Summary

Beware! It's Halloween and the "pumpkin men" are coming....

It's All Hallow's Eve and Owen Weeks is not having a good day. Something stirs in the lake by his house; the dead leaves beneath this shoes crunch like bones; even the brambles seem to twitch when he's not looking. Nothing's right.

But things get a lot worse as Owen discovers a terrifying stranger hiding in an abandoned farmhouse. A dark spell is invoked. Old magic...magic that raises a terrifying horde of nightmarish creatures.

As the monsters descend upon the village, Owen realizes there's only one place left to go: across the lake. But can he survive the horror of the legends said to live below its muddy waters?

The clock ticks toward midnight, and soon it will be the hour of the pumpkin men and of ancient terrors from a distant land.

One Dark Hallow's Eve is a lost tale from Eldritch Black's The Book of Kindly Deaths. Listen to it now and slip into a timeless world of dark fantasy and Halloween horror.

Fun Story To Get You Into The Halloween Spirit

This was a short and fun listen. Perfect to get you into the mood for Halloween. As the main character is child, I think this is geared more towards the younger crowd, however, as an adult I still enjoyed this. Quick creepy story that you will want to listen to more than once. Eldritch Black does a good job crafting spooky holiday tales and this will be one that I will listen to once a year. As always, Hannibal Hills does a fantastic job narrating. Black and Hills make a great team and I truly enjoyed every bit of the story and narration.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A Great, Quick, Spooky Listen

One Dark Hallows Eve was a quick listen but perfectly creepy. It is a short story I will revisit over and over. The story did not take a path I was expecting, so it was a fun adventure. Perfect to listen to around Halloween and the autumn, or for people like me who love the feeling of the autumn season all year long.

Hannibal Hills, as always, delivers a perfect narration with an amazing voice!

This story sounds like it could become apart of the movie Creepshow. Well written and creepy.

Holy hell Narrator, read this.

You were great with almost every voice except Owens!! And maybe the mothers. Plz PLZ, don’t do that. Idc if they’re a child or a woman. nO ONE talks like that and it ruined the whole story. I still gave the story a 5, bc w/ a better narrator for those speaking parts, which did not need to be so high pitched and terror filled without change, the STORY has a 5 potential.

Good

In line with The book of kindly deaths .... a story pulled from the book... It was interesting and held my attention to the end. Not overly scary... but I still enjoyed it. Hannibal Hills brings the story to life!

Very entertaining short story, and gateway to TBKD

This is a cool little short story that's perfect for the halloween season. It also serves as a great gateway drug to the full book.

I got this as a freebie from Audible and was hooked! I needed to hear more about The Book of Kindly Deaths (TBKD) and its scribes, so I went and got it right after.

Not a bad short.

I have listened to The Book of Kindly Deaths and loved it. This story was enjoyable as well. A great story wonderfully narrated as always. An old tale from The Book of Kindly Death takes place in a small village during Halloween. Some bullies pick a fight with the wrong monster and end up in the fight of their lives. Not only did they endanger themselves but have potentially doomed their whole village as well. It is up to one boy to face his fears and find the writer in time to save his family and friends. Love the stories in the series and sincerely hope for more. I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

good creepy fun

This was a very interesting story but i think this would've worked better for me in print. I enjoyed the characters and the setting. I haven't read The Book of Kindly Deaths but i'm now interested!
Hannibal Hills narrates this story. As always, he does a great job. His voices adds creepiness and a sense of doom to the story.

A fun and chilling little tale

I received this audiobook free from the author or narrator and willingly offer my review.

A good story with lots of action and suspense. The story is great for Halloween, and the narration was very well done. It's a short one, but it holds your attention.

How short stories should be

I love the fact that I had the opportunity to hear this extra tale especially when i had enjoyed the compilation so much. The listening is perfectly timed as we are fast approaching Halloween. Hannibal Hills is the perfect narrator for these tales as his voice just keeps you gripped to the story. It was well written and the perfect length of just over an hour to listen to easily within one sitting . I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review of the book
