Two teenagers, two centuries, one city.

Ireland, 1817 - Allen Hamilton crosses the Atlantic alone to find a way to save his family from imminent financial and social ruin before it’s too late. Instead he is met with prejudice, sickness, and starvation.

Fort Wayne, Indiana, 2018 - A gifted young artist struggles with debilitating grief after a sudden death in her family. When she unearths Allen Hamilton’s noble rise from rags to riches in antebellum America, their shared connection inspires her own healing and renewed inspiration.

Based on a 200-year-old letter collection, Once Upon an Irish Summer brings to life and weaves together this true story of romance, mystery, and hope.

This book was a great depiction of the importance and fun of doing genealogy work. This book takes you through the eyes of a 16 year old girl that is told she has to spend the summer with her grandmother doing genealogy. What at first seems like a terrible summer in the making turns out to be an awesome adventure, in multiple ways. The author does a great job at personifying each character (both past and present) and you really start to develop a bond with each one. There certainly were a few cheesy parts however overall it was a great read!

Great feel-good book!

A warm love letter to history paired with a slice of life teenage drama. Actual writings from history transformed into lessons to live by today.

A dedication to Geneology
