Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Elizabeth Hoyt comes a delightful Maiden Lane novella that begins once upon a moonlit night - and ends wickedly, wonderfully ever after.

Hippolyta Royle is running for her life. Pursued by hounds on a cold, rainy night, the heiress flags down a passing carriage and throws herself at the mercy of the coach's occupant. Whoever this handsome traveler may be, he is her only hope to escape a terrible fate. But should he agree to escort her to safety, he's in for much more than he bargained for.

At first Matthew Mortimer doesn't believe Hippolyta's story that she's a fabulously wealthy heiress who's been kidnapped. He assumes she's a beggar, an actress, or worse. But once his new travel companion washes the mud from her surprisingly lovely face, and they share a breathtaking kiss, there is no turning back.

This is an enjoyable book, short and sweet with a surprise at the end. How fitting.

Okay story. Good narration.

This story was okay. I liked the first half much better than the second half. Hippolyta was great. She was funny and sassy. I liked Mortimer too, he was a good hero. They had some good chemistry together and there was some hot and steamy sex in this book too.

The story line and plot started out good, then half way through fizzled out for me. I thought it was kind of dull to be honest. The whole indian thing, was just blah. There was lots of dialogue throughout the entire book that was great.

As for the narration, I thought it was great. I really like Ashford McNab's narrations. The men sound like men, she has a nice reading voice albeit a bit monotone but it seems to work for her quite well.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series. The Ghost of St. Giles will be back.

An okay read

This was an okay read, I liked both characters and the story, but something fell flat for me. Maybe it was the lack of action. The book just needed a little more something.

Excellent fun!

What a fun ride this one was! It was serious, humorous, mysterious and very romantic. And did I mention SEXY! Oooo La La!
I prefer Regency era, but this was very good and had only a few references that gave it evidence.

NARRATOR : Excellent, Ashford McNab is one of my favorites! Every character a distinct individual....

HEAT FACTOR : Ouch! That's hot stuff!

CREDITWORTHY? : Oh YES!

Amazing novella

No fluff, just the good stuff!

Great character development for a novella. Wonderful story, character interactions are AMAZING! Hoyt just knows her stuff. Oh and it may be a short story, but it isn't short on the steamy scenes!

Love Maiden Lane Series....may it never end!

So Good

I wanted to know what happened to Hippolypta Royle after Bridget helped her escaped Val in Duke of Sin, so I had to pick up Once Upon a Moonlit Night. I was not disappointed. Matthew Mortimer was a jerk after saving Hippolypta from the moors, but boy did he want her. We got to know what Val was blackmailing Hippolypta with, which was interesting. This was a complete romance story for a novella, and I loved the story. I loved that Matthew and Hippolypta didn’t hold anything back or anything against each other once they began to communicate with each other. So good!!

Great Short Story!

Best $3.50 I have spent. This well written short story keeps your interest throughout. The mystery of Hippolyta Royle's kidnapping is not revealed until the end of the book. Her muddy , smelly and tattered condition when she stops Mathew's carriage causes him to believe she is a woman who preys on men and when she tells him she is an heiress he bursts out laughing. When he agrees to take her to the next Inn their adventures begin.

Ashford McNab's did a decent job as narrator.
