National Bestseller

Sometimes it's not only what we plant, but where we're planted.

Now raising their four-year-old daughter, Indiana, alone, after Joey’s passing, Rory Feek digs deeper into the soil of his life and the unusual choices he and his wife, Joey, made together and the ones he’s making now to lead his family into the future.

When Rory Feek and his older daughters moved into a run-down farmhouse almost 20 years ago, he had no idea of the almost fairy-tale love story that was going to unfold on that small piece of Tennessee land.... and the lessons he and his family would learn along the way.

Now two years after Joey’s passing, as Rory takes their four-year-old daughter Indiana’s hand and walks forward into an unknown future, he takes listeners on his incredible journey from heartbreak to hope and, ultimately, the kind of healing that comes only through faith.

A raw and vulnerable look deeper into Rory’s heart, Once Upon a Farm is filled with powerful stories of love, life, and hope and the insights that one extraordinary, ordinary man in bib overalls has gleamed along the way.

As opposed to homesteading, this is instead a book on lifesteading as Rory learns to cultivate faith, love, and fatherhood on a small farm while doing everything, at times, but farming. With frequent stories of his and Joey’s years together, and how those guide his life today, Rory unpacks just what it means to be open to new experiences.

“This isn’t a how-to book; it’s more of a how we, or more accurately, how He, God, planted us on a few acres of land and grew something bigger than Joey or I could have ever imagined.”

Truly inspiring

I love country music and there are a lot of performers and song writers that I respect a whole lot. I have read several books about Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Pardon, and Waylon Jennings. Still out of all the artist in country music Joey and Rory are my favorite. It guess this is because of the simple approach to life and the music that I really admire. This book is more like a blog with several entries, but I absolutely love it just like I loved Rory’s first book. It isn’t just good. It is inspiring. It helps me make sense of the suffering and paints of beautiful picture out of hardships. I feel me and Rory have a lot in common being about the same age, both Marines, and both coming up in a broken home. I love his approach to life and his openness in revealing. His story renews my faith in God more than anything else. It is a reminder that joy can be found in sorrow and meaning through tragedy. This is one of my favorite books of all times. I so badly wish I could meet this man and just enjoy an afternoon talking.

So good, I want more

I could listen to him tell stories forever because his voice is so soothing and the stories always interesting. This is a book of stories about this mans life and even the simple stories seem extraordinary. I wish he would do more books, excellent read (or listen)

I’m not a religious person and Rory definitely is but the religious undertones of this don’t bother me at all. He is very respectful of the fact that not everybody is the same and he clearly doesn’t condemn folks who aren’t just like him. Anyway, if you’re a fan definitely check this out and if you’re not a fan you will likely be after reading :)

Beautiful Story

This book is absolutely beautiful. Rory Feeks authenticity and genuine honest nature comes through so well. I’m so happy the publishers did not tell him it had to be done there way. The book would not be the same.

Lost of his wife changed his truth

To say you are Christian but then say God sent a woman for your daughter is not what my Bible says. I hate that he lost his wife and she left this world without getting to see her daughter grow up. But, to say in a public setting that you prayed for God to sent your daughter a man. Then say, God answered by sending her a woman?!?! You should love your daughter, you should accept her choices. However, God does not answer prayers with sin. Couldn’t listen to the rest of the book. I’m sure he will live a happy life filled with decisions made by a devastating lost. I pray he finds love again!
