Publisher's summary

Welcome to Everlasting, Maine, where there's no such thing as normal.

Wolf-shifter Hugh Lupine simply wants to make it through the month and win the bet he has with his best friend. He's not looking to date anyone, or to solve a murder, but when a breathtaking beauty runs him over (literally), he's left no choice but to take notice of the quirky, sassy newcomer. She'd be perfect if it wasn't for the fact she's the granddaughter of the local supernatural hunter. Even if he can set aside his feelings about her family, Penelope is his complete opposite in all ways.

Penelope Messing wanted to get away from the harsh reminder that her boyfriend of two years dumped her. Several pints of ice cream and one plane ticket to Maine later, she's ready to forget her troubles. At least for a bit. When she arrives in the sleepy little fishing town of Everlasting for a surprise visit with her grandfather, she soon learns that outrunning one problem can lead to a whole mess of others. She finds herself the prime suspect in a double homicide. She doesn't even kill spiders, let alone people, but local law enforcement has their eyes on her.

The secrets of Everlasting come to light, and Penelope has to not only accept that things that go bump in the night are real, but apparently she's destined for a man who sprouts fur and has a bizarre obsession with fish sticks. Can they clear Penelope's name and set aside their differences to find true love?

Books in the Happily Everlasting series can be enjoyed in any order!

Don’t buy it

This was the dumbest story I have ever heard. The first book in the series was very entertaining and well written by Jana Deleon. This book sounded like it was written by a child. So cliche and ridiculous. Don’t waste your precious time.

I really enjoyed this paranormal story!

Kraken, Werewolfs, Shifters all in one place. This book is a fun cozy listen featuring supernatural elements. I enjoyed the imagery and the narration. The paranormal genre is something I do not listen to regularly, but it is fun escapism. I thought the author did a great job with developing the characters, and had some fun humor. There are even some unexpected twists with this book. BJ Harrison is great with his various characters.

the Maine accent was terrible. Kept distracting me.

the story was just... I don't know... it felt like it was trying too hard. the ware-animals / people were a little distracting.

the first everlasting book was much better.

No. Not good. Skip this one.

Oh boy, this one was not good. I know these are cozy’s and pretty short, basically just for fun, but this installment was bad. Giving completely spoiler free reviews is difficult, so there will be some slight spoilers. Stop reading if you don’t want spoilers.

Spoilers - This one was kind of all over the place. It had promise, in the beginning, but it was bad enough that I’m angry at it. Yes, I’m angry at the story. Because it’s bad. As soon as the “heroine” meets the “hero” and his friends, they’re all talking about supernatural stuff, but then they get mad when he tells her about himself because “The town agreed to never tell anyone about themselves”. Same with the grandpa. Even the same with the first townsperson we meet. And the “hero” keeps referring to the “heroine” as “Honey” every time he addresses her, and it’s very annoying and patronizing. It starts almost right away, and then gets to be every sentence. “Honey, why don’t we get something to eat” “Honey, let’s talk about that later” “Honey, we should take a walk” just shut up, you met 4 hours ago, and she has her own name! Although I can’t remember it either, and I just finished the book, so...Anyway, I was going to write a thorough review, but I can’t even think of anything worthwhile to talk about. I agree with another reviewer, this one seemed to be written by a child. Don’t waste your time.

A Romance novel pretending to be a mystery.

I am so annoyed with this book. If you want a silly romance then this is your book. Those who like that genre will probably really enjoy it. I was looking for a cozy mystery. Not too deep. Figure out who done it. Easy listen. It took until chapter 18 to become remotely interesting. Then by chapter 20 I knew the answer to the mystery. The rest was romance blah blah. I got this book because the first one by Jana Deleon was fun...and a mystery with a brief romance side bar. I want my credit back!

busted out laughing

I laughed out loud so often through this book. The non-cursing got me each time.

Loved it!!

Loved this book. Love the author, characters, narrator. Even though it uses different authors, the narrative is consistent. Love the new characters, the inclusion of the original ones & development of the community.
