Exciting romantic suspense with a great narrator!

Another exciting thrill ride from Patricia Bradley! I recently discovered her books & she’s quickly become a must read romantic suspense author for me. On the Edge of Trust’s one action packed twist after another as true crime podcaster Tori Mitchell & undercover FBI agent Scott Sinclair work to solve a murder & clear her nephew’s name.

Tori’s a talented crime reporter/podcaster dedicated to freeing the wrongfully accused & seeking justice for victims. Her recent reporting has made her a target, but who’s trying to silence her? Is it the violent husband of a woman sharing her story on Tori’s podcast, or the real killer after her investigation leads to freeing the wrongfully accused man? When Tori’s teenage nephew Drew becomes the suspect in a murder investigation, she returns to her Mississippi hometown to try to clear his name, but, the threats against her follow her to Logan Point.

FBI agent Scott Sinclair’s currently on leave after a gunshot wound to his right arm. He inadvertently reconnects with Tori after someone takes a shot at her, & he soon becomes involved in helping to clear Drew’s name. Scott’s troubled past, including a history of alcoholism, makes Tori weary of him despite the attraction between them. But, Scott’s years of sobriety & intriguing faith make her heart yearn to overrule her head.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story & found it impossible to put down. Tori’s a strong, intelligent heroine you easily want to cheer for. Though she struggles with faith & her relationship with her father, she’s determined to face her past. I loved seeing her opinions change after working with Scott.

Scott’s such an amazing guy. He’s humble, intelligent, & faithful. Even when Tori’s suspicious of him, he easily forgives. Loved their slow burn romance & the way his redemption story helped Tori reexamine her beliefs.

The mystery was complex with several moving parts & suspects. Drew stumbles on to the murder scene of family friend Jenny Tremont after retrieving something she’s hidden. When seen leaving the house, he becomes the chief suspect. Drew’s such a compelling character & I was rooting for him along with Tori & Scott. The suspense was intense with a climactic ending that had me on the edge of my seat!

I listened to the audiobook version & thoroughly enjoyed the narrator. She did a fantastic job bringing each of the characters to life. I appreciated the perfect amount of emotion she infused into each character.

Highly recommend! Though part of a series, I had no problem reading this book as a standalone. Looking forward to reading the previous books in the series.
