Publisher's summary

Haunted by the responsibility of caring for her troubled family, Maya Jacobs gave the only answer she could when Cameron asked her to marry him. Years later, entrenched in a soulless professional routine, she distracts herself from the lingering regret of her decision with a "work hard, play hard" lifestyle that guarantees no man will ever find his way into her heart again.

Cameron Bridge has spent the past five years married to the military, trying to escape the painful memory of losing Maya. After fighting his own war in the desert, he starts a new life in New York City, with his siblings Olivia and Darren by his side.

When fate brings Maya back to him in the heart of a city filled with its own hopes and shadows, can Cameron find the girl he once loved in the woman she’s become?

Finally, a relatable love story!

What did you love best about On My Knees?

I loved how you could feel the emotions of Maya and Cam through out the story. I really felt connected to them emotionally. Meredith wild has an amazing way of being to pull you right into the story and there are times she makes you feel as though you are the one in the book.

What other book might you compare On My Knees to and why?

It is so hard to compare books to one other. I don't think I can make a good comparison. Each book is different in my eyes, but this book is amazing!

What does Jennifer Mack and David LeDoux bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mack and LeDoux bring the story to life, You can hear the story in a voice other than your own, so it makes it feel more real. You feel that Maya and Cam are real people and not just characters in an amazing story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! (if I could, unfortunately I had life getting in the way of that! lol) I would try to listen to it when ever possible!

Any additional comments?

This is a must read! I love Meredith Wild as a writing and her books never disappoint! I can not wait for the next book in this series! Happy Reading!!

Best! Audio! Ever!

I really want to thank Jennifer Mack and David LeDoux. They are outstanding narrators. I felt Jennifer Mack gave a performance as opposed to simply reading a book. She must have felt Meredith Wild's work in a very emotional, personal way... she found the rhythm in the story, making the story sound like a poetry slam. I can't begin to describe how happy that made me.

This is by far my favorite book from Meredith Wild, as yet.. On My Knees captured my heart and my imagination from the very first words. I highly recommend this boim to anyone who enjoys a hot romance.

Intense!

Where does On My Knees rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was by far the most enjoyable experience I've had with an audiobook thus far. Because I was already familiar with the story (I read the book in nine hours on release day) I was able to really get into the performance aspect of this book. I love the characters and felt like these narrators really captured the spirit of not only the story but of the characters themselves.

What did you like best about this story?

My favorite thing about this love story is that it is one that relates to such a broad range of readers. Cam and Maya are both damaged, neither of them comes to the table offering the world to the other. Cam was my hero because he was an everyman...he wasn't a millionaire dominant or a business tycoon who lavished exotic gifts to try and buy Maya. He knew her better than anyone and used his loved for her to win her over.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Mack and David LeDoux ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first experience hearing Jennifer and David together, and overall I thought their performance was awesome. One thing I do not like is when she is reading lines for Cam or David is reading lines for Maya, it sometimes feels a little odd, but overall I thought it was a great performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book was actually full of HEARTBREAKING moments that I found myself actually crying over Maya's turmoil! And moments where I just wanted to scream at both of them in frustration, but overall it was just such a moving love story...an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end. I miss Maya and Cam already!

Any additional comments?

This is not what I would call a "beach read". If that's what a reader is looking for this is not the right book. This was an emotional story of love, loss, forgiveness and redemption. I would recommend it to EVERYONE, just be prepared for a very intense read (and/or listen).

DO NOT WASTE A CREDIT ON THIS 'BOOK'

What disappointed you about On My Knees?

Boring and predictable. The story itself reads as if the author had a 'mad lib' style format. Fill in name of girl, name of guy, guys chases girl, girl denies her feeling, girl makes an ass out of herself, guy fumbles along trying to fix her. Its the same story we have heard over and over again.

Would you ever listen to anything by Meredith Wild again?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jennifer Mack and William Munt ?

Anyone except William Munt. He sounds EXACLTLY like the narrator from the movie A Christmas Story. Which would normally be endearing, but the age difference between the character (25ish) and William's voice (70ish) is very disturbing. Not to mention over performed, he is so dramatic and over the top its like listening to your grandpa exaggerate a children's book. Worst still is hearing this geriatric voice say words like 'c*ock' and 'pu*ssy' YUCK! I felt like I needed a shower after..... Just horrible!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from On My Knees?

All of them, total crap.

In Love With this Story Line...

I've read this book previously before the audio book was released and I fell head over heals for all the characters. The emotion Meredith draws from her readers in this book is amazing. I could go on for days... This book will chew you up, spit you out and leave you begging for more.

I loved having both Maya and Cams part read by Jennifer and David as far as having a man and a woman sharing the roles since this is told from both parts of view. I thought Jennifer did a great job on the voice of Maya. I think she really captured her attitude, vulnerability and stubborness. But David was a little off for Cam...something didn't quiet fit; he made Cam sound a little surfer boy at some points. I did find that he did a great job for Darren. Overall I loved it. Both Jennifer and David did a great job of bringing this story to life.

I was given an audio code in exchange for my honest review of this book.

Very disapointing with little to like

Would you try another book from Meredith Wild and/or Jennifer Mack and William Munt ?

No - did not like the story, the characters, and hated the overdramatized narrations by William Munt.

Would you ever listen to anything by Meredith Wild again?

No

What didn’t you like about Jennifer Mack and William Munt ’s performance?

The male character was narrated by Jennifer Mack and William Munt.. This was confusing as Jennifer had a lighter male voice and William had an over exaggerated gruff male voice for the character. When listening to a book, you expect the characters to be narrated by the same person throughout.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No, I was hoping for romance, but the characters were weak and not that likeable. The book focused on extensive sex scenes with very little romance. About half way through, it was obvious what was going to happen.

Any additional comments?

I selected this book because of its rating. This was a waste of my time and money.

I Really Wanted to Like This Book

This story had a good beginning and went downhill from there. It was difficult to connect with Maya's anguish when for most of the book you just get vague references to a poor childhood and a strained relationship with her mother. Then about halfway through a grandmother comes into the picture -- another relationship that wasn't fully developed. For two people that were supposed to be madly in love and had a strong connection, they didn't seem to know much about each other. This could have been a better book if the characters were explored on a deeper level.

The narrators were marginal at best. Jennifer Mack had a strong lisp that I found distracting at times.

I got this audio book at a discounted price and I'm not sure I would pay for it in hindsight. I think I am going to skip the rest of the series.

Don't bother

Disappointed. A lot of steamy sex, but no real story, boy meets girl, big deal. Won't read any more in this series.. Also had to constantly adjust the volume between the two readers.

Not Fifty Shades

This book cannot come close to the intensity of Fifty Shades. I am not the least bit interested in reading any more of the series
