Publisher's summary

There are several aspects to writing fiction. Rendering what John Gardner in The Art of Fiction describes as a 'vivid and continuous dream' is a complicated affair. Story is created from the imagination of a writer, who in turn must translate it onto a page of symbols so that another person can read, absorb, and experience the story in a similar fashion. It's a remarkable process when you think about it. In On Creative Writing the process of writing fiction is demystified and cut in palatable bites to help any writer who has the passion and mad desire to tell a story. Reviews: Bitten by Book Lust Blog: This quick to read Ebook, totalling at 48 pages was not only insightful, but helpful with tips I'd never seen explained so clearly. Her digestible dot points made noting and remembering information easily and the book has given me a clear direction on how to briefly outline my own writing:staying focused and on track. Linda covers each short chapter from getting started to re-writing your work in a refreshing way. Overlooking heavy academic lectures for crisp- to the point knowledge. A.M Goodreads: A quick, compelling, and inspiring read for anyone who is a writer, wants to be, wishes they were, or thinks they can't become one. Lavid's background isn't in writing/grammar - which is refreshing - and her advice is practical. Read it. The Compulsive Reader: Employs gardening metaphors to take the reader from the planting of a seed, through watering, tending, filling the garden and digging the weeds. In terms of creating a piece of work, that translates into coming up with a good story idea and goal, creating plot, writing scenes, developing the story through elements like action, dialogue, and description, and finally rewriting. Lavid’s simplified method is helpful, and particularly valuable for newish or nervous authors who want a clear pathway through — to continue her gardening metaphor — the chaotic vegetation. Throughout the section, there are examples, and personal anecdotes.
