From start to finish a masterpiece! The narration is awesome! Good for a repeat listening right away!

Required Reading/Listening

Like everything by Augustine, this text is sublime. It contains the seeds of modern semiotics, just for starters. Augustine is a genius, and everyone should read everything he wrote, because it’s seminal to Western civilization. I listened to this in the Audible recording, and the performance is excellent. Highly recommended.

First reading of st Augustine. A bit dry and dense at times but subject matter is great.

Saint Augustine had exquisite insight into scripture and it shows in the guidance he shares for fruitful Christian living throughout the text. This book should be mandatory reading for all seeking to live a Christian life.

Excellent narration of classic text

The narration brings a text that some may consider dry to life. Much of Augustine's advice on biblical interpretation is sound today--especially in how he adresses literal vs. figurative interpretation. If your interpretation of Scripture leads to love of God and neighbor, take it literally. If it does not, do not.
