Homesteading in the Dakota Territory of the 1880s would not have been the same for 10-year-old Johnny Scott and his younger brother, Lee, if they'd had to do it without Old Sam. great family story

great for all ages. somewhat like a horse and boy version of 'Little House' stories. a little like and far superior, in my opinion, to 'Little Britches' but without the mischief and naughtiness. very enjoyable
