Publisher's summary

Çeda, the heroine of the novel Twelve Kings in Sharakhai, is the youngest pit fighter in the history of the great desert city of Sharakhai. In this prequel, she has already made her name in the arena as the fearsome, undefeated White Wolf; none but her closest friends and allies know her true identity.

But this all changes when she crosses the path of Rümayesh, an ehrekh, a sadistic creature forged long ago by the god of chaos. The ehrekh are usually desert dwellers, but this one lurks in the dark corners of Sharakhai, toying with and preying on humans. As Rümayesh works to unmask the White Wolf and claim Çeda for her own, Çeda's struggle becomes a battle for her very soul.

Its a little different, in a good/bad way

Any additional comments?

So, this story, or more accurately, collection of stories, is a little different than many of the fantasy books out there. Its not perfect by any means.

The good: its different, a little more dusty/smokey in nature. The reader did an excellent job, and probably kept this from being a time waster book.

The bad: It is rare for me to say this, but I wanted more world details. Maybe because this is 0.5 in the series, or because that is just the writers style, but it feels flat and 2D...not all the time, which helps. For example, the main character goes around the city to find a story about the demi-god...but none of that is covered except for a paragraph of explanation of where she found a book. The story teller on the other hand is worked out in intriguing detail. The other oddity of the book, is that there are three separate events in the storyline and they are handled as small stories within the greater...with beginning, middle, end, climax, etc...again this might be style, but on the first one I thought the story was over...foolish me.

Now, it may sound like I am panning this book, but I really do believe this was entertaining...even in a 2D way. I will probably get book 1 and continue the story.

Well worth your time. excellent story

Excellent story that helps flesh out Ceda as a character that was missing in the Twelve Kings. well constructed with excellent voice acting. My favorite from Brad so far.

Feedback

I fell asleep alot, cause of the slow moving of it all. sometimes it seemed... boring. Not usually the kind of book I got into, but it was a good book.
