A half-elf woman with deadly magic. A mage hunting for his childhood friend. A bargain that will change everything.
Isarrel Dalmyar is too human for her elven home, and too elven to be accepted anywhere else. Banished after her human magic endangered two elves, she must learn how to control her chaotic power if she ever wants to return home.
Liam Galway's loyalty to his king has always guided him, so when he's ordered to find the missing mages of Makaria—including his childhood friend—he does so eagerly. But the sparse clues only hint at dark dealings that stretch far beyond their own borders.
When Isa begs Liam to train her, he has one condition: she must use her elven skills to help him find the mages. It should be a simple task—if Liam can put his duty before his heart… and if Isa's magic doesn't kill him in the process.
Perfect for fans of Tara Grayce, Shari Tapscott, and Kenley Davidson, Of Chaos and Cadence is the newest installment in the Kasmian Chronicles, a series of swoony romantic fantasy interconnected standalones.
Includes a bonus Kasmian Chronicles short story, "Of Brothers and Bounties."

This time around, I listened to the audiobook for the first time, and OH MY GOSH! I already adored this story, in case that wasn't clear from all my precious reads/reviews, but the audio absolutely brought it to another level! I usually speed audiobooks up a lot, but I kept this one at a lower speed so I could really soak it all up. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing my favorite characters to life! I remember after reading this book the first time telling the author that I would be reading it over and over again, but didn't realize at the time that I meant that in the most extreme way. I've officially lost count of how many times I've read this over the past year-ish, but it's been a lot. And I will probably read it even more now that I have the audiobook! It's seriously just the perfect book hug story 💜
Previous review:
I seriously just read this series on repeat at this point. One of Constance's books is constantly being read, even if I go a few days at a time without picking it up. Any time I need something super comforting and uplifting, full of love and humor and all things fantastical, I turn back to these books. I seriously just cannot recommend them enough. If you haven't read them yet, do yourself a favor and read them now!
My original review:
Oh my goodness!! I have fallen in love with the world of Kasmia! I love all the main characters (of this book and the previous). I just adore it all! This book was a warm cup of cocoa on a cool, rainy day. I'm definitely adding it to my comfort reads collection to read over and over again. It's such a cozy book with such an intriguing story and lots of cool magic. I cannot recommend this enough! I'm already dying to read the next one.
Update: I just finished rereading thing, and just ahhhhhh, it is SO PERFECTLY WONDERFUL! I read it slower the second time through and really savored every moment. I love these characters and this world and this story SO MUCH!!
Absolutely perfect!!!

Isa is such a great character and one that most can probably empathize with, as she struggles to see the good in herself and often hears the negative comments strongest. Honestly, you have to feel a bit bad for her but I love that as she comes to believe in herself, she notices those who stuck by her the most and the love they have for her.
The other characters that show up are so much fun, like Dai. He has struggled and grows quite a bit in this story, and even more in the short novel that appeared in the audio at the end of Chaos.
Overall, this was a great, short, cozy read amongst some other stronger sentimental stories I'm reading
Cozy sequel with a fun new storyline!
