Publisher's summary

Nora Roberts, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the epic Year One returns with Of Blood and Bone, a new tale of terror and magic in a brand new world.

They look like an everyday family living an ordinary life. But beyond the edges of this peaceful farm, unimaginable forces of light and dark have been unleashed.

Fallon Swift, approaching her thirteenth birthday, barely knows the world that existed before - the city where her parents lived, now in ruins and reclaimed by nature since the Doom sickened and killed billions. Traveling anywhere is a danger, as vicious gangs of Raiders and fanatics called Purity Warriors search for their next victim. Those like Fallon, in possession of gifts, are hunted - and the time is coming when her true nature, her identity as The One, can no longer be hidden.

In a mysterious shelter in the forest, her training is about to begin under the guidance of Mallick, whose skills have been honed over centuries. She will learn the old ways of healing; study and spar; encounter faeries and elves and shifters; and find powers within herself she never imagined. And when the time is right, she will take up the sword, and fight. For until she grows into the woman she was born to be, the world outside will never be whole again.

Great ending for an exciting read!

Read all three of the series & enjoyed all of them. The last one, “Of Blood and Bone,” was my favorite.

Much Improved!

Having awaited the release of book w with a touch of dread -- book 1 having been unrelenting darkness, death, and destruction -- book 2 turns out to be a relief -- and a good tale. Darkness and Light are balanced in this story, and while the characters are less than real in development, there are glimmers that they will appear fully fleshed in the third and final book.

I ha e preferred Ms. Roberts fantasy fiction that involved adults, regardless of the setting or how fantastic the premise. These books center on adolescents, and as such may be more appropriate for high school age readers.

Wow-didn’t think it could be better than the first!

I am a lover of books, my passion but this is the first review I have written. I was so sure that I would be disappointed only because so many times the sequel can lack the stamina of the first book. I was so wrong. If you are a fan of apocalyptic, Discovery of Witches, the Librarians, or really just want a great and entertaining novel, read this series. I am literally unable to wait for the next. Dear Nora I hope you can get this next book out soon, as I am impatiently waiting!

Hoping the third is better

I really enjoyed the first book. This one seemed to have too much explaining for every emotion and every action of the main character. I'm hoping the third book doesn't disappoint.

Good, but not quite as good as the first.

I so love this narrator, she does such an excellent job!

This just wasn't quite as good as the 1st book, especially the ending which just felt too abrupt for me. All in all, an enjoyable read, however.

Amazing!!

I found book one while just surfing aimlessly on Audible. I've never gone wrong with Nora Roberts, so I grabbed it. I LOVED it!! It took a little bit to understand what was happening exactly, and where the story was going, but it keeps you hooked. Book two was even better. I can't WAIT for book three to come out!
