Publisher's Summary

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the epic Year One returns with a new tale of terror and magic in a brand new world.

They look like an everyday family living an ordinary life. But beyond the edges of this peaceful farm, unimaginable forces of light and dark have been unleashed.

Fallon Swift, approaching her thirteenth birthday, barely knows the world that existed before - the city where her parents lived, now in ruins and reclaimed by nature since the Doom sickened and killed billions. Traveling anywhere is a danger, as vicious gangs of Raiders and fanatics called Purity Warriors search for their next victim. Those like Fallon, in possession of gifts, are hunted - and the time is coming when her true nature, her identity as The One, can no longer be hidden.

In a mysterious shelter in the forest, her training is about to begin under the guidance of Mallick, whose skills have been honed over centuries. She will learn the old ways of healing; study and spar; encounter faeries and elves and shifters; and find powers within herself she never imagined. And when the time is right, she will take up the sword, and fight. For until she grows into the woman she was born to be, the world outside will never be whole again.

Can't Wait for the next!

I loved this more than the first year! I cried way more than I have in a long time when reading a book but perhaps it was just my connections to the characters after reading "Year One" recently. I truly cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Beyond Expectations!

NR is brilliant! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this sequel! Answered all open questions from book one and brought in some exciting new elements that expanded and broadened the story line. Julia Whelan's narration was on par and very well done. Don't miss out on a GREAT story! Now I want the conclusion already!! Do not want to wait a whole year, I guess I'll just have to read and re-read.

Better than expected

Granted, there was some teenaged angst in this, overall this book was surprisingly good. I give it 5 stars. I am unsure why so many reviewers complain about the narrator. I have never heard a book narrated by Julia Whelan that wasn't well-done. I thought she did a great job with the characters. I eagerly look forward to what I guess is the final book. The twist at the end was very well done and totally unexpected, at least by me!! Another winner by Nora Roberts.

Beautifully Emotional

Of Blood and Bone is a beautiful addition to Nora Roberts Chronicles of the One series. Julia Whelan was a new narrator to me with the first book and I have found I really like her narration. She does a beautiful job inflicting the emotions of the characters and I hope she does the next one as well.

This book in the series was brilliant. I felt what the characters felt. I learned what the characters learned. The magics and paranormal aspects were not over done as in some books written in this genre. Nora is brilliant in this aspect and I have totally missed reading/listening to her work. I simply LOVED this book and cannot believe we have to wait another full year for more but will be waiting (im)patiently!

OMG

This was a thrilling addition to book 1. Now my days stretch long waiting for book 3. My hope is that it will not be as long as the the 2 years that Fallon trained or that others will train away from Hope.

I enjoyed the edginess that many of the characters have.

Just OK

The first book was a thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. I cant say the same for this one. It left me disinterested in The One's universe. Oh well

I loved it and hate to wait for the next addition!

I love the tone and pace of this book.
It made me cry more than the first, both happy and sad tears.
The one hitch is you start to figure out who the "bad guy" is before the end.
Very well done!!

Blah

I really wanted to love this book because I loved Year One, but I got half way through and its just boring. The plot seemed very strained and I felt like I was listening to daytime soap opera TV. I think the narrator had someone to do with this. Her voice got extremely annoying. That's harsh I know. I love Nora Roberts, but not this one. I'll probably finish the book regardless, just on the hopes it gets better.

I didn't much like the first volume

Because I found it frightening and rather too gory for my taste but I really don't regret having my curiosity getting the better of me and getting the second tome. I loved it! Can't wait for tome 3 to be released!

Book 2 of Chronicles of the One trilogy

This is the second book (of three) in the story of Fallon Swift, in which she undertakes her training to become The One and begins to move against the Dark.
I thoroughly enjoyed it: Nora Roberts is a fantastic storyteller, so creative and imaginative. I love how she develops the characters, even minor ones, so you feel strongly about them. She is especially good at portraying male characters. I was totally gripped by this story. Julia Whelan narrates it really well too. It'll be a long wait until November when the final book is published!

Book 2 of a trilogy...

However, it was well done. Eagerly anticipated, and thoroughly enjoyed it but you know that there’s more to come. Well observed interactions between the characters and great narration

The Story is incomplete. The ending disappointing

The Story is incomplete and the ending disappointing unless the sequel is already available. The first book had an acceptable temporary conclusion, but this book, although it started well does not end satisfactorily. Just a middle that needs a better temporary pause for the next part of the sequel.

Better than book 1

First book (Year One) was an enjoyable story but this was better. It kept moving at a good pace and there was not a dull moment. The development of characters is excellent and perfect book for anyone who like fantasy adventures.

Listen to this series if you love magic & fantasy

Loved book one and was worried when book two jumped so many years but loved this one as well. Typical Nora Roberts, her words bringing characters and surroundings to life. Keen for the next instalment. Julia Whelan is an excellent narrator. Highly recommended

good sequel

I love this performance, it's so easy to listen to. As a sequel it's great. You could almost read them independently of each other.

Great Book

As a follow on from year one, it was fabulous. It became a bit convoluted and I needed to refresh my memory with the characters. The narrator was brilliant and brought lots to the characters.. I am eager to get the next instalment... highly recommend this book, however I think it wise to listen to Year One first.
