Acerca de esta escucha
During the Middle Ages, we Westerners abandoned our polytheist, animist heritage for the dualist separation contained within monotheist Christianity. Doing so separated our hearts from our minds.
The traditional spiritual mythology of Europe teaches that when a man dies in battle, he ascends to the “hall of the chosen” (Valhalla) where Odin trains him to fight as a spiritual warrior. To “die in battle” does not mean being killed in acts of physical violence. It means to live fearlessly from the heart without regret. Those who live this way have no attachments to this earthly life.
Since they have no regrets, they have no need to be reborn. They are free to ascend to spiritual heights after death and to help the living in their daily “battle” to be free. This is the path of the spiritual warrior. He condemns mindless destruction born from fear and cowardice wherever he finds it. He fights for the freedom of the heart and soul. He becomes Odin (He who is consumed with the fire of self-awareness).
In Odin Says, Michael William Denney shares his personal experiences communicating with a being claiming to be the god Odin. The author also explores and discusses the historical authenticity of the Jesus myth as well as the historical origins of modern monotheism and the massive shift in consciousness of the European psyche.
According to Denney, "After the fall of Rome, the victorious Germanic invaders of Italy and Spain almost immediately abandoned their native language and religion and replaced it completely with that of Rome. This was a perfect example of the Stockholm Syndrome on a massive cultural scale. In the case of the subsequent European conversion to Christianity, we not only adopted the identity of our Roman conquerors but have overcompensated in ways even the Romans would have been shocked to see. This unconscious shame and self-hatred has then been projected onto all those whom we have conquered."
Odin Says examines the toxic effects of monotheism on Western culture and the modern world.

There is only one commandment.... In this book, I will share with you the one and only thing you will ever need to accomplish in life. The answer to all of life’s problems is amazingly simple. Everyone can achieve complete fulfillment and mastery in their lives if they follow this one very simple commandment. In this book, I will share the one commandment to a perfect life, and I will show why religion, pop psychology, and new age teachings like "the Secret" have come close but ultimately fail when put into practice.

At this moment, thousands of extra-terrestrial space ships are descending on planet Earth and our solar system (unseen by the naked eye, and mostly undetectable to human technology). Every day, more and more average humans are having personal encounters with alien beings from other planets and other dimensions. Even our military is finally opening up about the reality that we are not alone in the universe. In this audiobook, I will share with you the visions and experiences these beings continue to show me about our future of a new golden age coming for all humans on planet Earth.

In his decades as a globally recognized teacher, Richard Rohr has helped millions realize what is at stake in matters of faith and spirituality. Yet Rohr has never written on the most perennially talked about topic in Christianity: Jesus. Most know who Jesus was, but who was Christ? Drawing on scripture, history, and spiritual practice, Rohr articulates a transformative view of Jesus Christ as a portrait of God’s constant, unfolding work in the world.

We are at war. Not with a foreign government or domestic terrorists or a creepy new artificial intelligence hell-bent on taking over the world. No, it’s a war we feel deep inside our own chests: we are at war with lies. The problem isn’t so much that we tell lies but that we live them. We let them into our bodies, and they sabotage our peace.

In the first half of life, we are naturally preoccupied with establishing ourselves; climbing, achieving, and performing. But as we grow older and encounter challenges and mistakes, we need to see ourselves in a different and more life-giving way. This message of falling down - that is in fact moving upward - is the most resisted and counterintuitive of messages in the world's religions. Falling Upward offers a new paradigm for understanding one of the most profound of life's mysteries: how those who have fallen down are the only ones who understand "up".

In this powerful and timely book, one of the most admired and authoritative religious leaders of our time tackles the phenomenon of religious extremism and violence committed in the name of God. If religion is perceived as being part of the problem, Rabbi Sacks argues, then it must also form part of the solution. When religion becomes a zero-sum conceit and individuals are motivated by what Rabbi Sacks calls "altruistic evil", violence between peoples of different beliefs appears to be the only natural outcome.

Do I Stay Christian? addresses in public the powerful question that surprising numbers of people—including pastors, priests, and other religious leaders—are asking in private. Picking up where Faith After Doubt leaves off, Do I Stay Christian? is not McLaren's attempt to persuade Christians to dig in their heels or run for the exit. Instead, he combines his own experience with that of thousands of people who have confided in him over the years to help readers make a responsible, honest, ethical decision about their religious identity.

Historia
Moving from the Paleolithic age to the present, Karen Armstrong details the great lengths to which humankind has gone in order to experience a sacred reality that it called by many names, such as God, Brahman, Nirvana, Allah, or Dao. Focusing especially on Christianity but including Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Chinese spiritualities, Armstrong examines the diminished impulse toward religion in our own time, when a significant number of people either want nothing to do with God or question the efficacy of faith. Why has God become unbelievable?

Many Christians mistakenly believe that their only choice is either to reconcile themselves to a fundamentalist reading of scripture (a "literal-factual" approach) or to simply reject the Bible as something that could bring meaning and value into their lives. In Reading the Bible Again for the First Time, Marcus Borg shows how instead we can freshly appreciate all the essential elements of the Old and New Testaments - from Genesis to Revelation - in a way that can open up a new world of intelligent faith.

The church in the West is at a critical moment. While the Gospel is exploding throughout the global South, Western civilization faces militant assaults from aggressive secularism and radical Islam. Will the church resist the seductive shaping power of advanced modernity? More than ever Christians must resist the negative cultural forces of our day with fortitude and winsomeness. What is needed is followers of Christ who are willing to face reality without flinching and respond with a faithfulness that is unwavering.

The Bible predicts that in the last days a charismatic leader will establish a global following in the name of peace. The Qur’an also predicts that a man will rise up to lead the nations, pledging to usher in an era of peace. The man in the Qur’an is called the Mahdi, or Islam’s savior. However, the man in the Bible is the Antichrist. Joel Richardson’s stunning research and analysis suggest that the Mahdi and the Antichrist are actually one and the same.

Historia
In this timely and important audiobook, one of the most trusted and admired writers on the world of faith examines the meaning of Scripture. The sacred texts have been co-opted by fundamentalists, who insist that they must be taken literally, and by others who interpret Scripture to bolster their own prejudices. These texts are seen to prescribe ethical norms and codes of behavior that are divinely ordained: They are believed to contain eternal truths. But as Karen Armstrong shows, such a narrow, peculiar reading of Scripture is a relatively recent, modern phenomenon.
