Publisher's summary

All she wanted was to be a restaurateur and open her cutting edge, decadent dessert-only establishment in the heart of Alexandria, Virginia's historic waterfront. However, Angel (Angie) Valenti would be saddled raising kids that belonged to her reckless, deceased sister, and a husband that wanted a real wife.

Angie didn't feel cut out for any of it, but she also didn't plan on Jojo Jameson being the one true hero she could count on forever, even if her new business partner turns out to be impossible to work with.

With her chance at owning her restaurant, she's blindly going along with a partner that may not ever sell, and has a myriad of secrets of his own. Faced with a choice, the restaurant or love, the one was a dream she always wanted. The other, a man who is the only thing she needs. With new threats on Jojo's life, uncertainty, and deadly consequences, her final choice might blow up in her face, literally, and what would she be without Jojo by her side?

Clean Contemporary

This lengthy audiobook focuses on love, finding peace and accepting God. I felt something was missing from this book. I felt the heroine was immature. If it wasn't fir the narrator I probably wouldn't have finished the book.

I like the main characters’ story!💜

Let me see if I can explain my thoughts without confusing the heck out of you.
First, I did enjoy the main story overall. That said, I was told this book is a standalone. While ordinarily since there was a main couple who eventually get their HEA, I would’ve considered it to be a standalone. However, the way this book was written I do not consider it to be a complete standalone. Let me explain. From the beginning, it felt like I jumped into the middle of the story. The supporting characters/couples still have ongoing issues I’m assuming from their own stories previously in this series. I have not read anything other than this book, and I have so many questions about what’s going on with the rest of the family. In addition, this story was written with multiple POV’s which leads me to believe this book wasn’t written for just the one main couple but also, to help conclude or continue books 1-3.
Is anyone understanding what I’m trying to say? 😂 🤷🏻‍♀️
The narration was very good, although sometimes it was difficult to distinguish between characters. Skyler Morgan has a fantastic smooth voice.
This is book 4 with an HEA. I recommend reading this series in order for the best experience.

All The Feels, A Beautiful Package well worth a listen!

Angie Valenti, plagued with doubts about her marriage to Jojo Jameson. Jojo, back from war and wanting all that a real marriage has to offer. They’re worlds apart, how can they find a happy medium? Fabulous writing and dynamic narration beautifully combine to make “Occasional Hero” a listen that will not soon be forgotten! The characters, beautifully defined and so real feeling that that I swear I could run into them in town! The dialogue they speak so authentic to the ear. The emotion, so raw, so beautifully believable! The plot engrossing and realistic, developing organically, then becoming eye opening as the story unfolds! No spoilers! No way I’m going to ruin THIS glorious listen for anyone by telling tales! Just know that this beautifully narrated story packs one heck of a punch! I felt so many emotions while listening and I’ll confess, by the time I finished, more than a few tears had been shed, AND a few things tossed across the room! My attention never wavering, I was drawn deeply into the story at the first beautifully narrated words and held enthralled until the beautiful epilogue ended! I am so glad I decided to listen to this truly beautiful story! This is one that absolutely should not be missed! Five stars! I tearfully loved it!

JoJo and Angie

JoJo and Angie
I enjoyed this storyline and there were many side characters as well. I have to say I did not read the first three books and that made this one hard to understand. I felt like I started in the middle of something so please when you read this start the beginning. It also had too many points of view. Having said all of that I did enjoy the story once I grasped what was going on. The narrative was great!
I recommend this as a series but not a stand alone.
