I can't figure what that is on the cover.

It's good writing and good narration though sometimes a bit monotone. The plot is far too complicated and convoluted with way too many characters and different names for the same characters. It's all too confusing. But somehow I wanted to keep on reading. I can't really say it was worth it. The main character, Tom, is a complete idiot. He's a handsome, popular model but not worth the trouble. I think I ended up disliking Tom more than the villain, whatever his name was.

DNF AT 50%

Not for me. All mystery and no MM relationship. Was willing to go with it until it was clear that Tom is a complete twat. Too many good audios. Win some loose some. I’m done cutting my losses.

Good, but not as good as the first

A fun book and quite a good mystery, but not as complex or detailed as the first. Unlike other readers I didn't find the main character (Tom) annoying or unlikable at all, though his big internal struggle with commitment felt a little forced. I wish the author had developed Will a little more (he felt pretty much like his only character traits were loving Tom and being a good cop), but since he's a focus in the next one I can hope that development will happen in the next book!

Great series!

Definitely a roller coaster whodunit. In the end, the clues were there all along but you will miss them. Characters are well developed and you see James/Ben again from the first book.

Love Gary Furlongs narration with the British accents (just right not exaggerated). Definitely can’t wait to listen to book 3.

Awesome 20 stars!!!!!!

This book is THE best book with THE best narration I’ve read in years. What a carefully written well thought out crime and just perfect erotic romance I’ve ever read. I really loved the first book In This series “Bitter legacy “. But this one left me so stunned by the authors writing as equally important the best narration I’ve ever heard. This is truly an incredible book. It’ll keep you twisted with anticipation as to who the killer is as well as how fleshly each characters person was so elegantly revealed. I have to stop here to say that even the best writers books can be ruined by the narration. However Gary Furlong is and will always be my absolute favorite voice actor. The way he truly acts with just his voice. That man has extreme talent snd any writer is lucky to be able to procure Gary’s contract on a book. Wow what a book. Now on to book 3. Yay!!!!!

A surprising mystery with some romance.❤️

I will say right off that I wasn’t crazy about Tom, the model and one of the main characters. This is the second book in this series and the second time I’ve wanted to head slap one of the mains for being a jerk. I struggled with this through most of both books, but don’t let that stop you from listening to or reading this series. The books are very well written and though the characters are flawed, you will enjoy the stories if you like mysteries.

I’m off to get Blue on Blue, the next in the series. ❤️

First Rate!

Gary Furlong could read a soup can and make it sound like Shakespeare! Great story, given life by the indomitable Mr. Furlong. If his name is attached I will always listen.

Stunningly brilliant

This is such a fantastic twisty-turny mystery thriller. Wonderfully plotted and keeping the listener guessing until the very end. There is a romance entwined in the story and it was beautifully balanced with the mystery arc. Narration by Gary Furlong was masterful. This audiobook is a must for lovers of thrillers, police procedurals and mystery.

A Phenomenal British Crime/Thriller That keeps You Engrossed

Wow! Just Wow!
After listening toDal MacLean’s fist audiobook Bitter Legacy, which was just amazing, I was expecting good things from Object of Desire, but in no way was I prepared for how good! I thought I had guessed what was going on so many times only to change my mind when another event happened.
This book was, in my opinion, phenomenal! Again, it focused on a dysfunctional MC, Tom, a model who we met in Bitter Legacy. He is not always a likeable character, promiscuous, selfish, and self obsessed but, also intelligent, independent and determined.
This book is entirely seen though Tom’s POV, I believe the next book is seen though Will’s POV so that will definitely be a one click buy for me.
Gary Furlong was superb in his narration of both Bitter Legacy and Object of Desire and I hope he continues to narrate any further audiobooks in this series.

Fantastic series

Another great book in the fantastic series. This time with a new couple Will and Tom, with appearances by Jamie and Ben from the first book. Excellent narration as always from Gary Furlong.

Keep Up!

The novel opens straight off with an incident and continues with numerous plot twists and turns as Tom Gray's life gets turned upside down. The story easily grabs hold and you certainly have to pay attention to stay on top of what's happening.

The bedroom scenes are where things get difficult. Nothing the matter with what happens, but the author's language choices are excruciating. In some books, descriptions of sex are so flowery as to be laughable. Here, the words employed are banal, unsexy, and jolting and don't make for a sensual, erotic reading experience. That's a pity because elsewhere, the story rattles along, keeping you on your toes.

Gary Furlong's Welsh lilt isn't to be missed.

Where there's a Will

Dramatic passionate thriller, so intertwined, so fast paced, you may get whiplash. The full cast of characters ensures there are plenty of suspects and theories. This author can construct a complicated well written tale with excellent dialogue, descriptions and lexicon, on a far superior level to so many books I have encountered on Audible and off. True love rarely runs smoothly, and it doesn't here, but we get to enjoy the kissing and making up. Fantastic narration. MOST ENJOYABLE

fascinating

Thrilling novel, beautifully narrated. But SO many characters all twirling around as suspects and all spewing everchanging theories I could not keep up with.

Even better than the first book!

Wow, AMAZING! In Dal Maclean’s second crime-romance, Tom Gray, one of the ‘pretty young things’, is on the verge of becoming a supermodel. He’s worshipped and adored but ultimately refuses to belong to anyone. When his boyfriend’s ex-wife suicides, ugly and damaging allegations that Tom bullied and harassed her surface and the police start asking questions. Reluctantly Tom agrees to allow his ex, Will Foster, to investigate and once again Tom wants what he can’t have and doesn’t want what he can. Dal Maclean has produced a stunning psychological thriller, painting such a compelling picture of Tom caught in a nightmarish, swirling haze of secrets, lies, and conspiracy, unsure of who to trust, desperately trying to steady himself as the rug is continually pulled out from under him. Tom is hardly a sympathetic main character, but somehow Dal Maclean draws us to him, seeing the good in him amongst the bad. While this second-chances romance is told from Tom’s POV, the other main characters are deftly drawn and the mystery is satisfyingly complex and intriguing. Gary Furlong performs the audio narration so well, he is such a talented actor (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).
