O Pioneers! is one of Willa Cather's greatest novels. It is the story of a family of Swedish immigrants who take up farming in Nebraska. The detail in the writing is enough to provide good visualization without being overwhelming. The story is thoughtful, helping me better understand the lives of the pioneers. It is pleasant listening. There is no gratuitous violence or profanity. I'd recommend this story for ages 14 to adult.
