In the near future, the constitution is outlawed, the government is ceremonial at best, and the country is about to lose her name. I hate all the characters
The problem with apocalyptic novels is that they usually all fit into one of several categories. Either everything comes way too easily to the MC; the action and gore is over the top; the writing and/or all characters are too juvenile; or the author focuses on describing one aspect (ie: prepping, weapons, medical). This was a mixture of several. The MC has her setbacks, but is extremely knowledgeable in just about everything. The writing isn't juvenile but all the characters are whiny or arrogant or both. I hated them all. No connection whatsoever. And the author is overtly descriptive in the MC's aforementioned knowledge... literally everything is thoroughly explained like you're sitting through a college lecture on nuclear warfare. Which in a way was kinda interesting because the author obviously did their research and I learned some things, but made it soooo boring. Add to that a narrator who made every other voice sound like they came from 'da hood or were a complete moron and suddenly a story that could potentially have strong characters and a solid plot turns into the same ole cookie cutter apocalypse. Shoulda gone with RC Bray. I swear the man works magic through his vocal chords.

Review of Nuclear dawn box set
Ms. Stone writes a captivating Work that brings you into Dakota’s and Eden’s life at the time SHTF. I was a Navy Corpsman ( NBC Warfare trained ) and now a Surgical assistant and a homesteader / amateur prepper. Ms. Stone’s knowledge of nuclear radiation is impressive as is her field aid . If you are looking for a story that entertains and educates . This would be a good choice .

Well worth the read!
I was looking for a new fictional series, but hesitated at the cliche “nuclear apocalypse” scenario at first. Glad I decided to read. Great series by great writer. Very realistic (and educational lol) portrayal of a nuclear disaster on US soil. Secondarily, I especially LOVE the way the author portrayed minorities in the series by making whites, blacks, latinos and women heroes and villains alike. Too often are minorities relegated to minor, insignificant roles in novels; even the really good ones. I loved the fact that lead roles were female and latino (speaking as a black male) and that blacks and latino characters were placed in positions of competence and prominence. Great series, easy read, highly recommended.

So glad this has the first three!
I don't think I could have handled it if I had to wait in between these books. They were so good! I love post-apocalyptic books, but this series takes then to a new level. I love the different unexpected plotlines that Kyla Stone ties in, and the way that her characters are flawed and real. You can see the toll that the events are having on Dakota and Eden throughout the series, making the whole series heart-wrenching and so hard to stop listening to. The pacing, and the way the author keeps just enough information from me made me determined to finish it, in the best way possible I can't wait to read the next two. If you have one new series for the year, pick this one!

I found this writer to have a commanding knowledge of what would happen if the USA was under nuclear attack. The story of survival of this group of people is very telling. I would not recommend these books for the young or anyone who doesn’t have some grasp of war.

Brilliantly Composed with Phenomenal Narration
Nuclear Dawn is a cleverly written post-apocalyptic series. Kyla Stone has composed a brilliantly descriptive, informative, and fascinating tale about surviving a nuclear attack and the subsequent fallout. She takes the readers/listeners on a harrowing and yet exciting journey. The storyline is intense, suspenseful, adventurous, and utterly compelling. I was thoroughly absorbed and invested in the outcome as the survivors' traversed the devastated radioactive ruins. The two primary characters are complex, guarded, multilayered with depth, and haunted by personal demons. The supporting characters are as well-developed and intriguing with unique traits and dispositions. From the very start of the book, I was wholly captivated by Dakota Stone and Logan. Dakota, the heroine is intelligent, resourceful, resilient, driven, and a natural leader. As defined by Logan, "there was something broken in her, but with strength like steel." As for Logan, he is enigmatic, smart, tough, and a fighter. However, he is not your typical hero, he is flawed and haunted by guilt, stemmed from a mysterious past. As for the antagonists, there are two groups. In the second installment, more about them and their motivations are revealed. The audience can link clues or draw parallels to certain events to determine answers to questions. Tidbits of information are also unveiled as the narrative shifts to the significant events in Dakota's past. Personally, I like this approach, the author creates the element of mystery. Kyla Stone has cleverly combined essential ingredients to produce an exceptional post-apocalyptic series. As an enthusiast, I've listened and read various authors and can confidently say that this is an excellent addition to the genre. Furthermore, I found her writing to flow naturally and not forced, particularly the dialogue. The narration by Stacey Glemboski is outstanding. She hones on the characters' personalities, projecting their moods and emotions, bringing them to life. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance, further immersing the listener. The author and narrator make an excellent team. I can't wait to hear the rest of the series! I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review

I've always like a good disaster story and I have found one here. You jump right in you jump right into the action almost from the word go The book is informative about the nuclear bombs but with it turning into lecture and characters are good with just the right amount of detail being given out about them With knowledge there is more about them to be discovered can't wait for book 4.

What a fab' listen. It's nice to have a female lead. who is doing the saving. I'm really sick of books filled with weak female roles. This is not that. All the woman in the book are very different, but strong in their own way (except Vanessa. She's just annoying).

great new series
am enjoying these,as i am narrator fussy, well done on stacey glemboski she does a great job.no zombies but fills the p/o needs, also like the fact there now a trilogy. Am liking that we are now getting more of dakota's background story,as is little odd at start as we dont know her reasons for doing stuff, but no way halts the need to finish the book and move on to the next one. i was given this by audiobook boom in exchange for my honest review.
