WOW! This is BEYOND suspenseful!!
I LOVED THIS! I especially loved Victoria because for once the woman wasn't stupid or screaming or behaving like a damsel in distress..nope..she was a bad ass and I want to BE her! On the flip side I wanted to jack slap her son! I realize he was only 13 but geez! Thank God he stopped being so predictable in the end. Jack..good old Jack! Almost missed his scene in this story...lol...but he was there when it counted...Narration was a bit monotone but still pretty good.

A Gripping Story Well Worth the Time!
This was my second offering of Mr Pajak's and I haven't been disappointed with either! This story starts off at full speed and doesn't let off the gas until the exciting climax. I found the writing to be rich with pertinent details fleshing out not only the characters but the action as well. One can clearly see everything unfolding before them in the mind's eye which cannot be said of the writing of all authors.
My evaluation of the performance was that it was good but certainly not great. Granted, there are numerous characters for the narrator to bring to life and that's no easy task. The audio quality bounced around a bit from one chapter to the next at times - not a lot but enough to notice.
Regardless of my personal perception of the narration, don't let this stop you from giving this excellent story your attention! As I mentioned, it's well worth it!

Intense!
Years ago, Victoria’s husband was killed by the mob. In order to protect themselves, Victoria and her son were put into witness protection. The Russian mob find them though and from there, Victoria has no choice but to take her son on a game of cat and mouse in order to survive.
So Victoria went from 0 to 100 real fast. She went from an average domestic mom to a badass in the span of a single chapter. She’s not just an average mom, she’s a former FBI agent, and isn’t afraid to use her training. There was plenty of action and suspense throughout this entire story, and I was hooked on every moment of it.
The narration was okay, but I didn’t much care for the female voices.

Not the right narrator for this one
The story was pretty good, but the narrator wasn't able to pull off the multiple characters. The voices were so... exaggerated? Halfway through I was able to more or less put the story before the narration. Lots of description in the fight scenes, easy to visualize which is great. I liked the fact that the heroine had real faults that weren't glossed over. Some choices she made were the wrong ones, and people she loved paid the price.

Action packed, exciting, clever!
Victoria’s husband was murdered by his business partner who was part of the Russian mob. Years later, Victoria and her son are under witness protection. When the Russian mob finds them, she goes on the run with her son, not knowing who she can trust.
This was a gripping and action-packed story! As a former FBI agent, Victoria has had lethal training and is not shy to use it. Right from the first chapter, the action began and I was not bored for even a second. The story was fast paced and exciting and I was hooked throughout. There were twists incorporated and cleverly interwoven in the story.
I would highly recommend this book to action junkies and spy lovers, you wont regret this one!

Horrible narration!
The narrators voice is at best distract and at worst an annoyance. Just don't do female voice and keep consistent cadence, let the story speak and avoid dramatic interpretation. I struggled to continue to listen as a result, hanging on because of the story and intrigue, despite the voicing.

Nowhere to run so sit back and enjoy
I really enjoyed this book. There was plenty of action to make the seven plus hours of listening time fly by. What I liked was you never knew how it was going to turn out. The story is told from several perspectives which keeps the story flowing along nicely, even if you have to wait for the next chapter to see how some action scenes played out. The characters were like able (I especially liked the one liners from Eddie) and made you care about them enough that you wished it was a book so you could skip to the end to find out how it ends but at the same time you didn't want to get to the end. I hope there is more books for Jack Monroe to star in enough to make a series because I for one will be keeping an eye out for more.
Special Agent Victoria Davenport thought her days of needing a gun were over when her husband is brutally murdered by his business partner and she and her young son go into the witness protection program. That is until she is woken from sleep by a gun being forced into her neck. Some how the Russian Mob boss has found her and once again she and her son are fleeing for there lives. US marshal Jack Monroe and his team are personally assigned the case by his boss to find them before it is to late. Victoria was betrayed before by one of her own and men got killed so neither she or Jack is taking any chances. Victoria has to find someone to trust and Jack has to find out who she would trust. Will there paths cross in time to keep Victoria and her son alive or will the Russian Mob boss finally get his revenge on the woman who got away?
I liked the narrator he did plenty of different voices so you had no problems knowing who was talking but I did think Jack the main characters voice was a bit deep.
