Nothing much happens: bedtime stories to help you sleep

By: iHeartPodcasts
  • Summary

  • Having trouble sleeping? Join Yoga and meditation teacher Kathryn Nicolai for bedtime stories where nothing much happens to help you relax and sleep peacefully. The stories are a soft landing spot for your mind. Rather than letting your brain race through the same thoughts you’ve been chasing all day, we are taking a detour to a calm and comfy place. We tell the story twice and go a bit slower the second time.

You can find our book, "Nothing Much Happens," in over 20 languages. Request your local bookseller to shelve it: https://bit.ly/Nothing-Much-Happens

    Sep 23 2024

Our story tonight is called Lightning Glass, and it’s a story about a long beach walk spent looking for something magical after a storm has passed. It’s also about geese flying south for the winter, driftwood, and sandbars, bracing cold water lapping at the shore, and excitement of discovery.

We give to a different charity each week, and this week, we are giving to Hope in a Suitcase; their mission is to provide children and teens in foster care with a suitcase/duffel bag, along with basic essentials and comfort items, to make their transition and circumstances just a little easier.

    Originally Aired: September 4th, 2022 (Season 10, Episode 14)

Our story tonight is called The Librarian, and it’s a story about the quiet of the closed-up library at the end of the day. It’s also about the books that sometimes get overlooked on the top shelf, a string of lights over an outdoor table, and knowing what your next book will be.

  • Thunder & Lightning
    Sep 16 2024

Our story tonight is called Thunder and Lightning, and it’s a story about slowing down and getting comfortable as the rain comes down. It’s also about cinnamon and clove, a candle’s flame reflected in a window pane, a sofa turned into a nest for afternoon napping and the calm and quiet that comes when mother nature takes over.

We give to a different charity each week, and this week, we are giving to SEE Turtles. They help the sea turtle community connect, grow, and thrive by supporting community-based conservation efforts.

These stories really so help you sleep

Love the readers voice, so calming. I also like that the story is read a second time but slower.

Effectively Soothing Sleep Aid

From the sound of her soft pleasant voice to the feel-good story content and topics, this podcast is now solidly a part of my go-to bedtime routine! I love the feeling of my body preparing itself for sleep, it’s effortless!! I haven’t finished a story yet! The ads at the beginning are not my favorite, and much less tolerable when it’s spoken by anyone else. But it’s a small price to pay for a good story.

Like Medicine without the after effects!

So I hope this review makes it to the top of the list, as the first two were abhorrent based on bias! This podcast is so soothing and yes the stories are sweet and simple for a reason….sleep. For those who expect a piece of literature go read a good book, and stay awake! One of my favorites that stood out was ‘Front door back door.’ it has a really nice message. The whole series is perfect for what it’s meant to be. A lovely soothing voice telling a simple story to help you fall asleep. It works… and I’m so glad I found Katherine and Bob to help me with insomnia. Not surprising that she is practiced in meditation.
Thank you so much!

Good Sleepy Time

Lovely, stress free stories to drift off to sleep with. Narrator has a soft, gentle voice. Helps to wash away the stress of the day and quiet the mind. The stories are slow and uneventful, but there is enough detail and imagery to engage the imagination and hold my attention. Yes, this method really does help in getting to sleep.
