Publisher's Summary

It was meant to be nothing serious. And it was...until it wasn't.

Aaron Stevens likes his life the way it is. As a surgical resident, he is perfectly content with the fact that the precious hours he has outside the hospital revolve around taking care of his mother and sister. He doesn't have the time or inclination for a serious relationship. So the fact his lover lives halfway around the world and is fine with jetting off to exotic locales a couple times a year for a few weeks of hot sex is as close to perfect as he can get.

The last thing Jack Hayes ever expected when his best friend got involved with an American was to hook up with her son. And he sure as hell never imagined it would continue for as long as it has. For years, he has been at Aaron's beck and call, satisfied with submitting to him whenever Aaron and his busy life allow. But after a change in his family's company that has him looking for a new job and possibly moving, Jack has begun to examine what he really wants in life and isn't sure stolen moments here and there are enough anymore.

When Jack arrives to attend Aaron's sister's wedding, keeping what he and Aaron have a secret begins to take its toll. Aaron is unwilling to come out to his family, afraid of hurting them and ruining what should be the happiest day of his sister's life. As much as Jack has come to love Aaron, he can't bring himself to be the dirty secret in Aaron's closet. Aaron has a choice to make, because the tighter he holds on to keeping their “nothing serious” arrangement, the closer he comes to losing everything.

Contains explicit love scenes.

Great narration and steamy story

Greg Boudreaux is one of my favourite narrators. This is the first time I've heard his British accent though and he did not disappoint! The author did a great job of allowing me to really enjoy the unique dynamic of the couple in this story and she certainly did not disappoint with the steamy parts! Enjoying this book so much was a bit of a surprise for me. I'm not usually a fan of books with a dom/sub, BDSM type feel however this was don't in a way that really worked for me.

Sweety, sexy, and everything in between.

Would you consider the audio edition of Nothing Serious to be better than the print version?

Although I usually read books before I listen to them, I listened to Nothing Serious without having read the book so I can't really answer this question! I do plan to go back and read this, I think after I've read London Bound so I can see where Jack and Aaron first met.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nothing Serious?

There's one scene that sticks with me but I don't want to say what it was because I don't want to "spoil" it for anyone, but it really took me by surprise. And not really in a good way. If I had been reading instead of listening I would have had to put my Kindle down and walked away. I'm not quite sure it was necessary, but I'm also not going to knock the author for putting it in there- I can see why it would work. It just made me a little uncomfortable.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene with Aaron and his sister at her wedding. I think he really needed to hear what she was saying.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Aaron finally came out to his mom. Scenes like that always get to me! I can only imagine how scared and worried he was about telling her that he was gay. Also, when Aaron realized how much hiding their relationship had hurt Jack- he never understood what Jack was sacrificing.

Any additional comments?

This was a really terrific story. I loved Jack and Aaron and how even after so many years they were so devoted to each other. I can't believe they made it 8 years without anyone catching on. It was also a little heartbreaking that they had to hide for so long. Greg did a wonderful job with the narration! I really enjoyed listening to him bring the characters to life. I like when a male narrator doesn't go overboard trying to sound like a female- I think he did a really good job of just sounding different enough when he did the women's voices.

Which scene was your favorite?

Perfect

I really enjoyed this book!! I am a huge fan of m/m romance but had never heard of Jessica Jarman. This book did not disappoint. Greg Boudreaux was fantastic - especially having more than one accent to speak in. I fell in love with Jack and Aaron. They had a beautiful love and unfolded perfectly. There was not a bunch of hate like in a lot of m/m books. The family was supportive. I would definitely recommend the book, author, and publishing company. It was wonderful!

First time author listen

This was my first listen from this author and I really did love it. I was entertained from start to finish. I did think the base storyline was one that is well told but adding in the dom/sub element really made it stand out to me.

I could tell I was stepping in mid-series but I definitely didn’t need to hear the prior books to understand the characters or secondary characters.

The narration was on point. Greg Boudreaux did an amazing British accent and switch effortlessly to American.

wow!!!! wow!!!! amazing!!! freaking awesome!!!

"nothing serious" is the most serious book ever!!!!
a lot of people can say it's very mundane story, and it really is ..they won't be mistaken at all! but I want firstly to speak about the main characters!!! both of them!
I know I I can't give spoilers and I really don't want to... but I do want to speak about what the author did when he created those two dominant men's. in a very particular lifestyle ...with a kink... I read and heard a lot of BDSM books!! too many to count.... but this specific book was a book with kink it didn't revolved around it the all time... the story revolved about the people, their feelings ,their fears, and their desires... they didn't live for the lifestyle the lifestyle was part of their life's.... and I loved it!!! I absolutely adored it!!!!❤❤❤❤
every character brought us the listeners (and do me a favor listen to this book Greg is amazing but I will talk about him later)
Aaron should be this confidence doctor but he's in the closet (the why I will not tell you it is a major spoiler ) a very dominant man and the feelings and his struggles are absolutely fascinating !!!
besides him we have Jack! a very very interesting character!!! he's more submissive but is a very dominant man as well !!! and I loved it !!!!
🔥 loved the killer of stereotypes in this book!🔥

no one knew what they did in their bedroom because it's only they business only ...
***and just a little spoiler (don't kill me) I loved absolutely adored the nickname ^^ pet for Jake in other books it could over annoyed me but when you heard it from Aaron you understand how precious this word is for them it's absolutely beautiful and now let's take the story of side and talk about the man and the voice oh my God Greg seriously you know what you did to me with this book no I can't even describe it I'm serious the correct amount of pronunciation of feelings nothing is too much nothing is too cold everything is in the right amount of feelings and voice and struggle and funny parts and I think no actually I know I would have enjoyed this book if I read it but I'm so glad I listened to it only because it was Greg Boudreaux oh my God he's so talented he's seriously talented

When Nothing Serious is Serious!

What made the experience of listening to Nothing Serious the most enjoyable?

The narrator, Greg Bourdreaux was great playing the dual roles of British Jack and American Aaron. He captured the both of their personalities wonderfully. This is a fantastic story about two men who have been involved in a transatlantic, long term love affair without really ever realizing that they were in love. The story bring them together in the US at Aaron's sister's wedding and we see just how combustible the sparks are between them. Aaron is tightly locked in the closet, however. It is one he has been residing comfortably in for a long, long time. It isn't until he realizes that he could lose Jack that he knows he has to make some major life changes or risk losing the love of his life. Their journey is a sexy and sometimes heartbreaking one but in the end, it is all worth it! That's the price of love.

What does Greg Boudreaux bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved Greg's British accent.

Great narration , but a good story . The wo rd pet was a bit over used for me and the slap in the face felt a bit degrading

Beautiful!

Nothing serious was a beautiful story. I laughed, I cried, I got so very frustrated (communication boys). I finished this book last night and I'm still smiling.

Greg Boudreaux did an amazing job with all the voices!

Worth a listen if you like M/M romance

This was my first audible book and I didn't know what to expect. I had been leery about audiobooks before, worried that the narration would be flat/monotone. I was quite surprised at how well done this story was. The story is narrated by one person and he did a great job. Not only did he convey emotion into his reading, he was also very good at changing voices (even if a couple sounded similar) and giving the listener an idea of whether the character was thinking or speaking.
On to the story: This is an M/M romance. Aaron (an American doctor) and Jack (a British accountant) have been having an intermittent affair for the last 8 years. They don't see each other much, what with Aaron living in the US and Jack in England. To complicate matters, Aaron is in the closet at home and Jack happens to be the best friend of Aaron's step-dad. The main part of the story unfolds the week Aaron's sister gets married, so of course, Jack comes over for that. I gave the story a 3 partially because, while I have no real issues with different lifestyles, I don't really get the BDSM thing. The few books I've read before that had some, it was very mild...not quite as "in your face" as this one (since I haven't read/listened to any other books in the series, I don't know if they touch on it to ease you in or not). Also, while I agree with Jack's reasoning behind Aaron coming out in his own time, I feel Aaron's reasons behind waiting seem a bit thin. Overall, it was a good story and I will be listening again, even if I do cringe every time Aaron calls Jack "pet."

Wow!

This is the first book by Jessica Jarman I have read/listened to and it has to be one of my top 10 of the year.
I think that this is the author’s only MM book in her MF repertoire but it doesn’t show as it is extremely polished and exceeds those of some more experienced MM authors in its relationship and BDSM, D/s character building.
As always Greg Boudreaux did an outstanding job narrating and his British accent was the best I have heard from an American yet, his pronunciation of the word Arse did make me giggle though as little too much emphasis was put into the letter R but that’s me being pedantic and it just made it all the more British in a way.
I would love to hear/read more MM books from this author in the future
