Interestingly different…

This book was extremely different from the after books. I enjoyed it, but not half as much as I enjoyed the other books. I’m not sure if I fully understand what’s going on with the characters in this book. Hopefully, the next book will shed some light on it. CSA

Good but felt so unfinished

At first I did not like the voice of Landon then I grew to love it because it seemed like him. I just thought it was leading to more and before I knew it, it was the end of the book. It felt very unfinished so I’m wondering if there is another book out or on the way..

Dissatisfied with the ending.

Details description of book misleading. I have read the previous books in series and this is a letdown.

B rating...

My Review:
Overall: 3.25
Performance: 4.25
Story: 3.0

Okay, this book...I don't even really know what to say. This is the first book I've read by Anna Todd, and while I enjoyed it in audio, I honestly think that was because the narration was so well done. The book was okay...but there's just really nothing happening.

Seriously, while the narration is somewhat interesting, I literally stopped at the 3/4 point in the book and had to wonder...just what is the point of this book? There's stuff happening...kind of, but Landon is just letting life happen to him. He's not proactive about anything. He wants his ex, Dakota, back...but then he's just kind of "meh" when she shows interest in the same thing (and note....I do not want him with her...AT ALL.) He thinks Tessa's friend, Nora, is hot, and she's showing interest, too. But he doesn't do anything to take it past friends. His life is just happening around him and he's watching it from a distance.

And then the book simply ends...no resolution to anything. In fact it didn't even feel like a stopping point for the book. It's like the author hit a certain word count, typed...The End, and considered it done.

But if you like audiobooks, this is a great narration. Just don't go into it expecting a whole lot in the way of plot. There are interesting characters and things are happening to them, but that's about it.

Enjoyed

I loved learning more about Landon. I loved the After books and this kept them going…alittle. I wondered why it took Landon and Nora so long to finally be together.

Well, that was abrupt

It feels like the power went out in the middle of a movie. I laughed out loud in total disbelief when this book ended... like.. wait, what?! That's it? That's how it ends? Not a single story line tied up. Just leaves you , not really hanging because nothing was happening when it stopped, just leaves you in the middle of the road. Imagine you're watching a movie where every character's storyline is in full swing and the lady is baking a cake to surprise a veritable stranger but runs out of frosting so she hops in the car and is driving down the street to the grocery store when the movie ends.
Did the cake turn out? Did the stranger appreciate the gesture? Did his ex give Draco the hickey? Did Hardin ever show up? Did Nora bail on her apartment or get the boot? Did Gramma live? Did the baby come? Did the babysitting go well? Did Dakota run to Draco after the flaccid insult? Does Landon EVER get laid or does he just keel over from a severe case of blue balls?!

For fans of the After series

This is the first part of the Landon duet from the writer of the After series. If you have read this series you will most likely remember Landon, Hardin’s stepbrother.

Landon is the classic nice guy. The guy who gets friended by cute girls because he is sweet and lacks the confidence to ask for what he wants. He is sensitive, thoughtful and a great guy to have in your circle of friends. He has been a godsend for Tessa during her ups and downs with Hardin and now they are flatmates in New York

Landon has had one girlfriend and she broke his heart when they went their separate ways for college. You never really forget your first everything and Landon still wonders what life could have been like if he and Dakota were still together. Now that she is in New York too he may get a chance to find out?

However, another girl has caught his eye, one that makes him feel very differently than what he did with Dakota. Seeing as she was the only girl he has ever loved or been with he isn’t sure what to do about these feelings for Nora. I guess I will have to read the next book to find out who he chooses.

Disappointed

I was really disappointed in this book. Had no action of any kind . It’s actually boring but I finished it because I purchased it. Thank goodness I got it on audible because I wouldn’t of made it through the book . Hoping the second one is way better.

I'd listen again

it is a little slow at first, but really picks up towards the middle. It lacks the up and down back and forth drama of the Hardin Tessa saga, but it is nice to see a POV from a genuinely good guy that doesn't need to be fixed. I was surprised at Landon's lack of confidence in himself. He was so self assured in the After series so it was really cool to see this side of him again. The narrator's voice is slow and monotone, but I got used to it and started to identify it with the Landon character. I can also say that when he speaks in his Hardin voice it is better than the Hardin narrator for the entire After series. The narrator for Hardin in the After series is a good narrator he just sounds like a 50 year old guy and I never identified his voice with Hardin. When the Landon narrator does his voice for Hardin I actually see Hardin.
