Fifty-two episodes of this famous radio serial, digitally remastered from the original broadcast recordings. Starring George Edwards in the dual roles of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Although Robert Lewis Stevenson's novella, first published in 1886 as Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, (omitting the word the) has been reincarnated in 123 film versions, not including stage plays, his compelling story of the forces of good vs. evil are best known from the 15-minute radio shows that ran on the Australian Broadcasting Company for 52 episodes from September 9, 1943 to February 16, 1944.
Australian actor George Edwards, known as the man "with a thousand voices", began his performing career as a vaudeville comedian before hitting his stride as a notable stage actor. He is credited with creating the radio serial genre in Australia, and gained fame from his portrayal of the conflicted characters of Jekyll and Hyde.
This audio edition of the original ABC radio broadcasts contain each episode in its entirety, making it the first complete collection of all 52 episodes of the beloved series. A must-have for any old time radio collector, or Robert Lewis Stevenson fan.
Will keep you engaged all the way to the end! Highly recommended listen and one of my favorite dramatizations.
