Publisher's summary

Nationally renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht and New York Times bestselling author Charles Bosworth, Jr. have written a riveting narrative that exposes the disturbing truth behind the Christmas day murder of six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey. Dr. Wecht's expert analysis of the public record leads to shocking new conclusions divulged here for the first time.

There is evidence that the child beauty queen's death was a tragic accident, not a deliberate murder. Autopsy evidence is consistent with sexual abuse prior to her death, and certain crime scene evidence contradicts the "intruder theory". Was the murder scene compromised?

Discover who Dr. Wecht believes is really responsible for JonBenet's death.

But really... who killed JonBenet Ramsey?

While I appreciate the detail with which Wecht explored the death and subsequent investigation into the case of JonBenet Ramsey, I was not a fan of this book. His insistence on referencing himself in the third person as “Dr. Cyril Wecht” every time he offered a personal insight or recollection into the case came across-at least to me-as self-indulgent. Furthermore, I expected the authors to establish a legitimate theory of their own once they discounted all other theories at the end of the book. Unfortunately when I finished listening, I was left with the title question still unanswered: who actually killed JonBenet Ramsey?

New information

I was hesitant to buy the book thinking I've heard everything. In the first 5 minutes I found out things I haven't heard before.

Very repetitive!

This book is the same story told over and over and over. Boring after 3 chapters

Unflinching truth

I have read several books on the story of the little beauty queen from a well-to-do family in Colorado. The previous books were from a police or detective viewpoint. This book revealed truth more and more in depth with each chapter. There were various reasons the public viewed through the glass darkly. However, the renowned author lived up to his legacy by sorting through the hidden details to reach the truth of Jonbenet’s tragic last night. She was buried in a tiara and pageant gown. Her little face and neck were covered in make-up. The curtain was drawn closed on the stage she once pranced across. She left all of us to ponder our own sensibilities about how we treat little girls.

Dry but comprehensive

This is a good, though dry, compilation of the facts. Late additions were kind of awkwardly and maybe hastily tacked on at the end, wish more time and discussion had been devoted to them. But, for those still intrigued by this tragic case, or those just getting interested, it is full of good information and informed evaluation.

Good audiobook on a baffling cold case

I’m an avid reader of true crime books, but I hadn’t thought about the famous JonBenet story in years. I decided to go back to it, to learn more about this unsolved case. This audiobook gave me new information about the case. The thorough autopsy evaluation by Dr. Wecht provided some new insights for me. And I agree with the doctor’s findings that this murder was committed by someone inside the house. The book went into details about John and Patsy’s evasive behavior towards the police, along with other ways they were uncooperative.

Repetitive

I feel like the whole book could have been summed up in three chapters. Thorough, yes, but very repetitive. I had to keep checking to make sure I didn't accidentally rewind it.

Awful Book

I have read several books about this case and this is the worst! The first and most disturbing is the sexualization of JonBenet. Very uncomfortable to listen to! The second is so many unrelated cases talked about. The third and most important is there are very few details about the actual evidence in the case. I give this book 1 star. Disappointing.

Way too much autopsy detail

The amount of detail included about JonBenet's autopsy report was inappropriate, as was including the entire report in supplemental materials.

No questions answered

This book has a very misleading title. I thought there would be new evidence or possible suspects but I was wrong. This is very repetitive
