Publisher's summary

Audie Award Winner, Personal Development, 2013

Author Benjamin Hoff shows that the philosophy of Winnie-the-Pooh is amazingly consistent with the principles of Taoism and demonstrates how you can use these principles in your daily life.

Is there such thing as a Western Taoist? Benjamin Hoff says there is, and this Taoist's favorite food is honey. Through brilliant and witty dialogue with the beloved Pooh-bear and his companions, the author of this smash bestseller explains with ease and aplomb that rather than being a distant and mysterious concept, Taoism is as near and practical to us as our morning breakfast bowl. Romp through the enchanting world of Winnie-the-Pooh while soaking up invaluable lessons on simplicity and natural living.

While Eeyore frets and Piglet hesitates and Rabbit calculates and Owl pontificates, Pooh just is. And that's the clue to the secret wisdom of the Taoists.

The Tao of Pooh is an international bestseller and the first Taoist-authored book in history to appear on bestseller lists, it remained on The New York Times’ bestseller list for 49 weeks.

Original and Inspiring

What made the experience of listening to The Tao of Pooh the most enjoyable?

Frankly speaking, I am stunned. I have read Tao Te Ching, but barely understood anything, and this book came as a key for me. It actually inspired me not only to reread the aforementioned work, but also the adventures of the Pooh.

What other book might you compare The Tao of Pooh to and why?

Nothing comes to mind really - I haven't came across anything like this before.

Which scene was your favorite?

The final scene. Brilliant and captivating. In a sense nothing could possibly make a better culmination for this spiritual journey.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed at lots of places.

Any additional comments?

Pooh is a wise little bear

I have always loved A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh. Pooh was always stunningly wise in the simplest of ways. This book draws very accurate analogies between the characters of the Hundred Acre Woods and Eastern philosophies. My verbal comments were giggles and a few “well, duh.” I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this short audio book.

Sweet and calming

I love the idea of using Pooh to teach the philosophy of the Tao. The voices of the characters of the hundred acre wood were very well done.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, the philosophy is decent - although I didn't agree with all of it.

Winnie the Pooh made a fun lens through which to view Taoism.
