Publisher's summary

Throughout his time as a murder squad detective, Trevor Marriott has seen firsthand the wanton slayings and butcheries that have been committed by both men and women who have warped, depraved and sadistic minds.

In this fascinating and chilling book, he examines the world's most notorious serial killers and the despicable crimes they committed. From William McDonald (the 'Sydney Mutilator') to 'Dusseldorf Vampire' Peter Kurten, Steve Wright (the 'Suffolk Strangler') and the USA's satanic Ripper Crew, these are the horrifying true stories of serial murder from across the globe.

Not as the blurb says

What disappointed you about The Evil Within?

The blurb makes it sound like this book is a discussion on the serial killers presented by detectives. I feel like this isn't true, per say. It makes it sound like there's be a common thread or a certain detective will speak personally about the cases.

However, this is simply a short blurb of various serial killers from around the world. The only structure in it is the division of countries. Nothing new is presented.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment that this was yet another list.

Any additional comments?

If you're looking for pathology or psychology or anything outside the realm of Joe SerialKiller killed X victims and a brief run through then you'll be disappointed. Buyer beware.

HOWEV' VER

Would you try another book from Trevor Marriott and/or Yaz Shah?

NO!!!!

Has The Evil Within turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. Just this author and this narrator

How could the performance have been better?

Well, of course we have to make allowances for the fact the the narrator is British, but seriously the accent was really getting on my nerves.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Complete irritation with the word "However". I am not joking, when the book had 5:10 min left I wrote down the time stamps every time she said "However" for the next 30 minutes. 10X in 30 minutes. A word can be over used. In fact it irritated me to the point that when I got to the next book every time I heard the word however I was annoyed again.

Any additional comments?

The material was good or I would have never made it to the end of the book.

Interesting and very disturbing

It is a compilation of basic facts of some very horrible crimes. It is explicit and gory, be warned. However, if you want to know what the monsters are like and what they think and do, here it is. Also, the fact that monsters from all over the world and from all different back grounds, and appearances are shown to us is enlightening. Mr. Hyde is not always visibly ugly or 'scary'looking. And a moral question for the rest of us: Can anyone who does these things really be sane? Is Cane ours to kill in turn? I was also shocked to learn that some countries in the 'civilized' world are still hanging and shooting criminals-naive of me I know, but still.....I must also mention the reader, who must have a stomach of iron. It is a woman, a job I do not envy in this case, and she is very good and very brave. Peace and mercy and safety go with you, dear fellow reader.
