Publisher's Summary

Random House Audiobooks presents The Audiobook of the Year, written and read by the team behind hit podcast No Such Thing as a Fish: James Harkin, Andrew Hunter Murray, Anna Ptaszynski and Dan Schreiber.

In a year when much of the news was believable but fake comes an audiobook packed with stories that are unbelievable but true.

The Audiobook of the Year is a feature-length edition of the award-winning hit comedy podcast No Such Thing as a Fish. Each week over a million people tune in to find out what bizarre and astonishing facts Dan, James, Anna and Andy have found out over the previous seven days. Now the gang have turned their attention to the news of the past 12 months.

You'll discover the curious details behind the main headlines - how Donald Trump slept on the 66th floor of a 58-storey building, what effect Brexit had on Coco Pops, and why China's president can't stand Winnie the Pooh - as well as hundreds of stories you may have missed entirely, like the news that:

Qatar built a refugee camp for camels
2,000 bees were stolen in Beeston
The victim of Britain's first ever shark attack ended up with a cut thumb.

From bizarre arrests to baffling elections, via a surprising amount of sausage news, The Audiobook of the Year is an eye-opening tour of the incredible year you didn't know you'd lived through.

The best book you'll ever listen to, buy it twice

The full review is optional, why does it need to have at least fifteen words?

No such thing as a boring Book of the Year 2017

The QI elves have compiled a wonderfully entertaining list of weird facts from 2017. listening to them is like a twelve hour long podcast! Such fun

Never disappoints!

I've been a fan of the No Such Thing As a Fish podcast and the show QI (Quite Interesting) for years. All of the presenters' clever banter mixed with truly interesting facts never fail to make me laugh. I cannot recommend this enough for those who are after intellectual humor mixed with current events.

A fun way to learn something new.

If you are a fan of random bits of trivia this is a great way to learn some more! And if you are a fan of the podcast this is even better because it basically just feels like one long episode.

Perfect for Fans of the Podcast!

I was unsure how a book format would work but these guys smashed it. It kept the conversational tone of the podcast and was full of QI facts. Only thing that doesn't come across well on audio is when they read out lists but this only takes up a few minutes of the whole book. Well worth a listen

Love this book

Love the podcast, this is like a long version of the No Such thing as a Fish podcast. Very funny and interesting. Has intermittent parts that can't be in the the book

9 hours of the podcast. Brilliant.

The podcast that this comes from is wonderful (check it out if you haven't heard it) and this was worth paying for if it funds more free episodes. Lovely stuff, keep it up.

No such thing as a bad review

Being a long time listener of the podcast this was a easy choice, obviously it lacks the normal back and forth between the team you get in the podcast but there is still enough to give the audiobook the edge over the paper version, great performance from all and enjoyable from A to Z.

Monkey mouth to bum resuscitation for the brain

I’m a big fan of the podcast and have been for years. It is rammed with facts that I hear and think ‘ooh, I must remember that’, and then immediately forget it as a new one comes along. I have just listened to 9 hours straight and can only remember the amazing fact about the man who saved a baby monkey’s life by giving it an hour of mouth to bum resuscitation. Which I think was one of the very first facts. There’s also something to do with Blink 1.82. Anyway, great audiobook. Scoring it down a point because there is less of the easy charming repartee than you get on the podcast, but it’s well recommended

9 Hour 24 Minute Long Podcast

I got the audiobook with a free audible trial. It is so good! I’m only on chapter 6 at time of writing but would highly recommend.

Made the Christmas drive a pleasure

Great big super-sized version of the podcast I know and love. Had already got the physical book, but prefer this as can drive whilst consuming, but now importantly includes the bickering.

9 hour podcast? Yes please!

More structured than the podcast, but still has enough improv to keep things fun. Absolute must listen for any fans of No Such Thing As A Fish.

So Goood.

It was fantastic. It is just like their show, with less banter in alphabetical order.

tops

a review that says it is optional still requies 15 words? I don't get it. The book was great though
