Publisher's summary

A former top insider reveals the nightmare world of violence and abuse at the highest levels of the Church of Scientology. One review states: "At home alone, a 14 year old girl takes a phone call from Scientology. This starts a quarter of a century journey of manipulation, betrayal and sexual, physical and mental abuse. This journey leads to the highest management echelon and one woman's courage to break free. A real page-turner." - Mark P. Another writes: "Amy Scobee has written a book unlike any other expose of Scientology. She actually was at the top of International Management for 20 years, and oversaw the recruitment of Hollywood stars into the Church of Scientology. She witnessed the abuse of top managers by their senior, David Miscavige. She writes convincingly of the human rights violations she endured while on the Rehabilitation Project Force, a thinly disguised slave labor camp. Her book is enjoyable to insiders and laymen alike, with a glossary of terms provided, and plentiful footnotes. This is an important contribution to understanding the controversy surrounding the Church of Scientology. The glaring spotlight eventually points to Abuse at the Top." - Michael H.

WONDERFULLY WRITTEN HORRIBLE ATROCITY

I was raised in a different cult. I was not abused like Scientology abuses their members. I have an understanding of the way it can warp your mind. I am a follower of Amy Scobee on social media & admire her for her bravery! God bless you Amy. You are always in my prayers 🙏🏻💗

Insider view of how Scientology divides families

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book to anyone funding Scientology

How could the performance have been better?

I found overemphasis of many words to be unnatural and somewhat annoying.

Do you think Scientology: Abuse at the Top needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

A follow-up book would be helpful if a solution is found for the organization's separation of families.

Engrossing

I was so happy to see this book on audible. I cried when I saw Bonnie Elliot on Scientology The Aftermath and learned she had passed. This is well narrated and I listened in one sitting to the entire book.

Good insight into the life inside the Cult.

This book is a good insight into one of the sickest Cult around, $cientology is a scam, it was always intended to be a scam and always will be considered a scam. But now when one of the sickest psychopath on this earth is the Cult's leader it's even worse and here you can hear the truth behind how utterly sick David Miscavige really is and how he treats his minions.

Fascinating story - idiotic reader

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but I'd urge them to wear a mouth-guard because teeth gnashing over the narration is inevitable.

Would you be willing to try another book from Amy Scobee? Why or why not?

Yes.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Danielle Plaso?

Anyone who knows the word is SUPPOSEDLY, with a D, not "supposaBly." What is humorous is that the first time she says "supposably" is just after someone accuses the protagonist of being illiterate. It's the narrator's literacy skills I question. I can't believe no one else caught this and the audio book went on sale like this.

Read the book don't listen!

The narrator did a terrible disservice to the Author and her book. I can't believe that someone didn't catch how awful the narration was and get it under control. Scientology has so many groups CMO, WDC, etc. and for me personally it would have made much more sense if I could have had a book to physically look at and a list by me all the time of what all of those acronyms were short for. Buy the book or borrow from the library trust me!

Great story.

Really chilling account of her story. Thought that the narrator was a little chirpy and lacked real dark emotion, however the story shone through well.

Worth a listen

Amy’s story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. She bravely tells the truth and exposes a harmful religion. I highly recommend this book.

Powerful accounts regarding decades of Insanity.

To the Author,

Thank You for sharing your life experiences. Even if only a few, they are moving and emotional. Grateful you were able to be with your Mom and Dad and that the "church" can't control you anymore. Looking forward to your next book. See ya on SPTV! Rock On!
