Ann Coulter is back, more fearless than ever. In Adios, America she touches the third rail in American politics, attacking the immigration issue head-on and flying in the face of La Raza, the Democrats, a media determined to cover up immigrants' crimes, churches that get paid by the government for their "charity," and greedy Republican businessmen and campaign consultants - all of whom are profiting handsomely from mass immigration that's tearing the country apart.

Since the day Donald Trump announced his presidential campaign, the left has waged a demented war against him. The very people who once mocked right-wingers for (allegedly) overreacting to every little thing are now the ones hyperventilating and hatching insane conspiracy theories.

Story
Democrats, the news media, and many leading Republicans immediately blamed the roughly four-hour disturbance on President Trump. The president “incited an insurrection”, the American pubic was told. But one year later, the original narrative of what happened that day has crumbled while hundreds of Americans have been swept up in an unprecedented investigation led by Joe Biden’s Justice Department to punish them for their involvement in the January 6 protest. The public has been misled - and flat-out lied to - about that day. This book exposes them all.

Known for his network of conservative websites that draws millions of readers everyday, Andrew Breitbart has one main goal: to make sure the "liberally biased" major news outlets in this country cover all aspects of a story fairly. Breitbart is convinced that too many national stories are slanted by the news media in an unfair way. In Righteous Indignation, Breitbart talks about the key issues that Americans face, how he has aligned himself with the Tea Party, and how one needs to deal with the liberal news world head on.

History is about so much more than memorizing facts. It is, as more than half of the word suggests, about the story. And, told in the right way, it is the greatest one ever written: Good and evil, triumph and tragedy, despicable acts of barbarism and courageous acts of heroism. The things you've never learned about our past will shock you. For example, the reason why gun control is so important to government elites can be found in a story about Athens. Not the city in ancient Greece, but the one in 1946 Tennessee.

Is America a source of pride, as Americans have long held, or shame, as Progressives allege? Beneath an innocent exterior, are our lives complicit in a national project of theft, expropriation, oppression, and murder? Or is America still the hope of the world? New York Times best-selling author Dinesh D'Souza says these questions are no mere academic exercise.

Publisher's summary
"This isn’t a story about black people - it’s a story about the Left’s agenda to patronize blacks and lie to everyone else."
For decades, the Left has been putting on a play with themselves as heroes in an ongoing civil rights movement - which they were mostly absent from at the time. Long after pervasive racial discrimination ended, they kept pretending America was being run by the Klan and that liberals were black America’s only protectors.
It took the O. J. Simpson verdict - the race-based acquittal of a spectacularly guilty black celebrity as blacks across America erupted in cheers - to shut down the white guilt bank.
But now, fewer than two decades later, our "postracial" president has returned us to the pre-O.J. era of nonstop racial posturing. A half-black, half-white Democrat, not descended from American slaves, has brought racial unrest back with a whoop.
The Obama candidacy allowed liberals to engage in self-righteousness about race and get a hard-core Leftie in the White House at the same time. In 2008, we were told the only way for the nation to move past race was to elect him as president. And 53 percent of voters fell for it.
Now, Ann Coulter fearlessly explains the real history of race relations in this country, including how white liberals twist that history to spring the guilty, accuse the innocent, and engender racial hatreds, all in order to win politically. You’ll learn, for instance, how:
- A U.S. congressman and a New York mayor conspired to protect cop killers who ambushed four police officers in the Rev. Louis Farrakhan’s mosque.
- The entire Democratic elite, up to the Carter White House, coddled a black cult in San Francisco as hundreds of the cult members marched to their deaths in Guyana.
- New York City became a maelstrom of racial hatred, with black neighborhoods abandoned to criminals who were ferociously defended by a press that assessed guilt on the basis of race.
- Preposterous hoax hate crimes were always believed, never questioned. And when they turned out to be frauds, the stories would simply disappear from the news.
- Liberals quickly switched the focus of civil rights laws from the heirs of slavery and Jim Crow to white feminists, illegal immigrants, and gays.
- Subway vigilante Bernhard Goetz was surprisingly popular in black neighborhoods, despite hysterical denunciations of him by The New York Times.
- Liberals slander Republicans by endlessly repeating a bizarro-world history in which Democrats defended black America and Republicans appealed to segregationists. The truth has always been exactly the opposite.
Going where few authors would dare, Coulter explores the racial demagoguery that has mugged America since the early 70s. She shines the light of truth on cases ranging from Tawana Brawley; Lemrick Nelson; and Howard Beach, New York; to the LA riots and the Duke lacrosse scandal. And she shows how the 2012 Obama campaign is going to inspire the greatest racial guilt mongering of all time.
Critic reviews
"Mugged is not just a book - it's a public service." (The American Spectator)
"A refreshing and informative antidote to the divisive narratives about race perpetuated by politicians and the mainstream media." (The Washington Times)

With growing animosity toward law enforcement professionals, government corruption, disregard for the constitution, and racial tension thanks to the media and hate groups, there seems to be no easy answer in sight. But Sheriff David Clarke knows where we must begin. We must stop blaming others and take ownership of our families, communities, and country.

Story
Ben Shapiro uncovers the simple strategy used by liberals and their friends in the media: bully the living hell out of conservatives. Play the race card, the class card, the sexism card. Use any and every means at your disposal to demonize your opposition - to shut them up. Then pretend that such bullying is justified because, after all, conservatives are the true bullies and need to be taught a lesson for their intolerance.

The Gay Revolution begins in the 1950s, when law classified gays and lesbians as criminals, the psychiatric profession saw them as mentally ill, the churches saw them as sinners, and society victimized them with irrational hatred. Against this dark backdrop, a few brave people began to fight back, paving the way for the revolutionary changes of the 1960s and beyond.

On a Friday night in March 1981, Henry Hays and James Knowles scoured the streets of Mobile in their car, hunting for a black man. The young men were members of Klavern 900 of the United Klans of America. They were seeking to retaliate after a largely black jury could not reach a verdict in a trial involving a black man accused of the murder of a white man. The two Klansmen found 19-year-old Michael Donald walking home alone.

Story
American society has always been fertile ground for conspiracy theories, but with the election of Donald Trump, previously outlandish ideas suddenly attained legitimacy. Trump himself is a conspiracy enthusiast: from his claim that global warming is a Chinese hoax to the accusations of “fake news”, he has fanned the flames of suspicion. But it was not by the power of one man alone that these ideas gained new power. Republic of Lies looks beyond the caricatures of conspiracy theorists to explain their tenacity.

Story
In the early 1960s, uncertainty and menace gripped New York, crystallizing in a poisonous divide between a deeply corrupt, cynical, and racist police force, and an African American community buffeted by economic distress, brutality, and narcotics. On August 28, 1963 - the day Martin Luther King Jr. declared "I have a dream" on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial - two young white women were murdered in their Manhattan apartment. Dubbed the Career Girls Murders case, the crime sent ripples of fear throughout the city, as police scrambled fruitlessly for months to find the killer.

The election of Donald Trump in 2016, like most of his campaign, came as a shock to many Americans. How could a man so lacking in capacity, so void of any intellectual heft, become the president of the United States? How could a man with no detectable personal qualities outside of resentment and the will to dominate appeal to millions of Americans, enough so that he was able to win the highest office in the land? With this book, journalist Amanda Marcotte will outline how Trump was the inevitable result of American conservatism’s degradation into an ideology of blind resentment.

Story
After World War I, black Americans fervently hoped for a new epoch of peace, prosperity, and equality. Black soldiers believed their participation in the fight to make the world safe for democracy finally earned them rights they had been promised since the close of the Civil War. Instead, an unprecedented wave of anti-black riots and lynchings swept the country. From April to November of 1919, the racial unrest rolled across the South into the North and the Midwest, even to the nation's capital. Red Summer is the first narrative history about this epic encounter.

Politically Devisive but Factual
I'm not as interested in the politics of race relations as I am in the social impacts, but often the two are inseparable in regards to this subject. So I found this book informative and interesting. Ann Coulter is, of course, a Fox News anchor and an obvious Republican, and quite a bit of this book was aimed toward slinging insults at the Democratic party. Fair enough in this case, although she does skip over some of the Republican transgressions in this area. However, I knew this would be the format of the book when I bought it, so I can't complain. Besides, by and large, I do agree with her that the vast majority of harm in the area has been done by left leaning liberals.
Being a media personality herself, Ann does concentrate quite a bit on the media's role in agitating racial "problems" that didn't exist until the media declared it was a problem and whipped up sentiment to that effect. She brings up a plethora of legal cases, weighing the real evidence and court findings against the liberal media's coverage and "community" reaction based on media coverage. Much of this was new information for me, and I enjoyed her insight. She was also surprisingly funny at times, and that was a bonus.
My problem with this book is simply that it will probably not be enjoyed by those with liberal/Democrat political leanings, and they are the very ones who need to be made aware that pandering does no one any good, least of all those who are being pandered to. In that respect, she will be, by and large, preaching to the choir with this book, since most of her readers will be prepared to believe (or already know) her subject matter. She is so antagonistic toward liberal Democrats that I can't see any of them sitting through this book with an open mind.
If the subject of racial demagoguery interests you, and you want to hear the facts from a somewhat less politically motivated writer, I would suggest reading Thomas Sowell's brilliant book "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" which takes the history of the problem back further and goes into more depth. It doesn't concentrate quite so much on media involvement and more on the historical and social aspects leading up to more current events. Mr. Sowell also has the added credibility of being a black man from Harlem and a world renowned economist. Ms Coulter does reference this book a few times, as the material is very similar in nature.
Ann Coulter did a good job of reading her own material, though not perfect, although I think that the few (very few) faults I found in her performance would not have been an issue with better editing.
Overall, a very good book, but if you don't already lean toward conservatism, it probably isn't for you.

Eyeopening and frank look at race relations
I rather enjoyed the book. It shows how the left media manipulates the people into a self-loathing state and perpetuates a false image of minorities and caucasians in typecasted rolls of "the oppressed victims" and "the oppressive perpetrators" respectively.

Another Coutler book that begged to be written...
Ann Coulter refutes the myth that Republicans are racist, and the Republican party, is the party of racism. She does this by recounting much of the actual history of the civil rights movement in America, from Reconstruction through the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Coulter's thesis is that, far from being the party of racism and bigotry, the Republicans are responsible for the advancement of civil rights for Blacks in America since the Civil War. It was only after the Democrat party realized that losing the Black vote would consign them to irrelevance that they moved from their position of opposition and obstruction to civil rights legislation, to embracing it, beginning with the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Coulter makes the case that, because Republican Barry Goldwater voted against the 1964 legislation (on purely progressive grounds, having supported prior civil rights bills), Democrats were able to seize on that opposition and spend the next 30 years painting the Republican party as the party of racism. She goes on to make that case that the Democrat party has always been the party of institutionalized racism, and makes a lucid, compelling, well-documented case for her thesis. The history is there, and verifiable, but largely unknown by the general public, who seems to only be able to digest 30 second sound bytes. Of course, fans of Ann Coulter will cheer when they hear her make her case using the sharp tongue and cutting jabs for which she is known. Coulter also narrates the book herself, and her argument is therefore delivered in a natural and convincing style, as opposed to previous Coulter audiobooks, which sounded less authentic because of their use of a professional narrator. Love her or hate her, if you are a person who will investigate facts apart from your biases presuppositions, Mugged gives lots of facts to investigate.

Her* not Here*
Any review that says they liked her other books but disliked this one is not being honest. This was one of her best (if not THE best) book. Its hard to rate them because the topics are so varied and are all of the same general style but if she has "bad" books, this most certainly is not one of them. If I had to pick a bad book from her I would have to say one of the article compilation books, and ONLY because they aren't new material just her putting a year or so worth of her newspaper articles into hardback.
This book reminded me why Ann Coulter is the most insightful political commentator today. There has NEVER been someone like her. She makes so many subtle points in Mugged that you have to read it more than once to "get" while also making you laugh.
