Amazing Political Insight Into the 2016 Presidential.Campaign

I’m sorry I can only give this book 5 stars, it is one of the most insightful books on presidential politics I have ever read.

If you want a front seat into the 2016 presidential campaign this is a must read. It will transport you right into the middle of one of the most incredible campaigns in American history. Most importantly, it reads as if it comes straight from the heart of the authors, who as we all know were instrumental in the campaign. Well done, loved it.

Interesting look behind the scenes and of the man

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

There's a reason they called it "Let Trump Be Trump". No speech writers, teleprompters, or exstensive debate prep. Trump is the real deal. Fast read, very interesting.

Awesome Political Writing..."Big Leauge!"

What did you love best about Let Trump Be Trump?

The honesty and the humor. I think these two guys must have had a real blast writing this. It accomplishes a few important things: (1) It acts as almost a sigh...a deep breath following an exhausting election season. (2) it is quite entertaining and "The Boss" is quite the character! (3) It sheds some understanding on the new paradigm shift in American politics. (4) It is really entertaining (5) The two authors give some depth to the people America "met" during the 2016 campaign (i. e. Previce, Spicer, Conway and so on). It is one of best political "reads" I've enjoyed in the past five years.

What other book might you compare Let Trump Be Trump to and why?

Donna Brazille's "Hacks" ...another brilliant political book, equally insightful and entertaining. I am not sure which was funnier, Let Trump Be Trump or Hacks. Both are well worth the "read". HRC's "What Happened" was absolutely a disappointment compared to Let Trump Be Trump (and Hacks as well). It covered the same issues, but without any innovative thought or ideas. It was filled with blaming others for the failure of the Clinton machine and the DNC. Let Trump Be Trump has a truthfulness to it that is pure American.

Have you listened to any of Peter Berkrot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. But I really liked this narrator. He had the perfect accent and voice for this audio-book. I mean, he sounded just like Trump. He was New York all the way. I'll look for this narrator again in other books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing so hard, I had to stop listening. I just did not want this book to end. "Am I a baby Paul? You think I'm a baby?" Or, Paul Manaford showing up at the NJ golf course looking like Thurston Howell the III: White capri sailor pants, boat shoes and a blue captain's jacket, complete with a crest on the pocket. By the time Trump was done with him he resembled "a crushed blue beer can".

Any additional comments?

I just loved this book!

Poorly written

Would you try another book from Corey R. Lewandowski and Dave N. Bossie and/or Peter Berkrot?

This was honestly horribly written. The point of view moved from first to third person, sometimes within the same sentence. Very little insight or understanding can be gained from this superficial book. It reads like an over-long 8th grader's school report. SAD!

What do you think your next listen will be?

I recommend Devil's Bargain for a riveting read, regardless of your politics. I will most likely listen to pick up Blackwater again and try to finish it.

What does Peter Berkrot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great voice. He did his best with the material given.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It made me want a Big Mac.

Any additional comments?

Really disappointed with this one.

Revolting fluff piece

What disappointed you about Let Trump Be Trump?

A horrifying look into the kind of simple, ignorant, empty values and cult of personality that fortify the Trump campaign and current administration. Rather than this obsession with loyalty and blind fanaticism around an authoritarian leader ("the Boss" as they love to call him), maybe we should instead value individuals' ability to think critically for themselves??

Would you ever listen to anything by Corey R. Lewandowski and Dave N. Bossie again?

hell no

How could the performance have been better?

the performer's machismo and swagger-like delivery made me sick to my stomach. Why did he put on a weird southern accent every time he said the words North Carolina? Ick.

Terribly written - Only book I've ever returned

It was impossible to figure out who the narrator was talking about in many passages. There was no context or logical train of thought. Hoping for an insightful look into the 2016 campaign... nope :( The narrator did the best with what he was given I guess. If you're determined to read this book, I'd try the physical one with pictures. Perhaps it will help putting context to some chapters.

A wonderful overview of the campaign!

I was riveted to the politics during the campaign! Now with this book, I got the inside story! I couldn’t stop listening! I am going to listen to it again!

It's everything I don't like about Trump

What made the experience of listening to Let Trump Be Trump the most enjoyable?

It was very... Trump.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have enjoyed it a lot more if Trump wasn't such a jerk, but I knew that coming in.

Any additional comments?

I worked for a guy like Trump, and it was terrible. I can't stand all of these things about Trump that the author seemed to revere. It was hard to listen to. It made me like Trump even less. It made me feel nauseous a few times. He's a disgusting human being. For me this just confirms it. I wish I could have gotten the information without the admiration but if you've got a fondness for the Don I'm sure this will be an enjoyable experience for you.

a rose-tinted delusion

Reads exactly like you'd expect from somebody out of touch with reality. It's like the inner circle of a cult wrote a book about their leader. I would expect this sort of book to appear in North Korea. The reading performance is pretty good, though.
