Publisher's summary

Discrimination and Disparities challenges believers in such one-factor explanations of economic outcome differences as discrimination, exploitation, or genetics. It is listenable enough for people with no prior knowledge of economics. Yet the empirical evidence with which it backs up its analysis spans the globe and challenges beliefs across the ideological spectrum.

The point of Discrimination and Disparities is not to recommend some particular policy "fix" at the end, but to clarify why so many policy fixes have turned out to be counterproductive, and to expose some seemingly invincible fallacies behind many counterproductive policies.

The final chapter deals with social visions and their human consequences.

Good use of data

I wish we were all looking at the same underlying data related to this very important topic. Without the data, I worry that we will empathize the wrong policies and end up in no better or even a worse position than we are now. It feels that Sowell is warning us of this.

A must read for every social justice warrior

Maybe if the leftist, equality-of-outcome academic would read the truth, we could see the solutions to the problems big-government has created and stop pushing for the government to try to solve those problems, because they only keep getting worse when that happens... Einstein’s definition of insanity is applicable.

such a POWERFUL message backed by FACT

I wish I could ask that everyone in North America read this book with an open mind and heart. it has the power (through actual fact) to change lives and adjust our future. I'm so happy I took a chance on this book. it's shifted so much of how I see the world and I am forever grateful.

Mr. Sowell has done it again

Once again I am in awe of this man and how he uses facts and historical evidence to set up his argument.

Amazing book

This is vintage Thomas Sowell, giving you more of what you need to navigate the maze of P.C. culture and other Leftist nonsense. Use this book to help arm yourself for the war of ideas.

Thomas Sowell, brilliant as always

Absolutely fantastic book. Thomas Sowell is the most brilliant thinker America has ever produced. All of his works, including this, are groundbreaking and brilliant. No one digs deeper into a situation to find out what is really going on than Tomas Sowell.
