Very Interesting Tale !

The narrator really captured the energy of the novel as well as Olsen's impressive storytelling style. They make a good team.

Charmer

Charmer: A Ladies' Man and His Victims
: Jack Olsen

This is a very in depth recounting of George Russell, Jr from pett thief to serial killer. Jack Olsen gives the listener an inside look at this bright young black man's life. Amazing how someone can fool so many people.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Kevin Pierce does an excellent job with true crime narration.

Good but tedious at times

If you like Jack Olsen this is your chance at a good one. I like his way of assessing the best points from each main character but this one was a bit tedious.

Loved it!

Interesting book, on one man and how he managed to pretend to be the good guy or harmless nuisance when he was really a monster waiting to happen. Great narration as always by Kevin Pierce!

Sad but True

Interesting stuff. Just goes to show a serial killer has many victims, beyond just those who were slain. George Russell was a piece of work. The world is better off with him behind bars.

The performance was spot on per usual.

Inside A Psychopath’s Mind & Personality

Through dialogue with the main character, the listener feels what it’s like to encounter a psychopath. This makes the book unique. A fast moving story that makes you feel like you as if you were there. The narrator is excellent and brings out the psychopath’s personality.

They did it AGAIN!

The true crime combination of Olsen and Pierce is my absolute favorite. The way that the story is written grabs me from the beginning and Pierce’s voice just adds to the perfection. I have found this to be true every time, and this book was no exception. They bring us into the world of the people living on the Island and it makes you feel as if you understand exactly what was happening. I’m not the best reviewer by any means but if you love these two together, this book will be no exception. Well worth the credit, I devoured it in a couple of days!

A good addition to my true crime library

It’s a good selection, provided by the “dream team” of Jack Olsen’s writing and research, with Kevin Pierce’s narration. The book describes the life of George Russell Jr., including his narcissism and manipulation of others, and the criminal behavior, such as his frequent nighttime house “cat burglaries” as a way to support himself. I was also taken aback by his irresponsible interest in teenage girls. He dated a 14 year old girl, who unexpectedly became pregnant and had an abortion.

We hear about his misogynistic ways, which combined with uncontrollable rage, led to the repugnant, unspeakable acts against his victims. I have to ding the book as I expected to hear more about the lives of the victims. The writing didn’t exactly live up to the title of the book in that regard. Overall, though, I’d recommend it.
