The accent isn't so bad!!

Any additional comments?

I almost passed up the audio version due to the comments about the accent of the narrator. I didn't find it to be a problem at all, and I'm from NC - so I'm usually sensitive to strong accents from the north! I found the narrator to have a mild accent that made her voice more interesting than annoying. Really great content, too! I just had to post about the narration.

Great content

Probably better as a paper book rather than audio so you can do the exercises and re refer to helpful points. The reading is a little condescending at times and stories a little contrived but I found it great for reframing my approach to exercise

Great book

What did you love best about No Sweat?

The book is so true and honest, it explains how we are supposed to exercise rather than how we have been convinced we need or should exercise in today's society based on new beliefs. I have read dozens and dozens of health, fitness, wellness books, and this one is right up there in the need to read. If you are struggling to understand why your hardcore beach body, CrossFit, a special workout plan is failing you should read this book.

Which character – as performed by Lyndsay Vitale – was your favorite?

The narrator is good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I did.

Great read! It's working for me.

If you could sum up No Sweat in three words, what would they be?

I listen to the audio book nearly everyday when I workout for extra motivation.
It has been over 30th days since I started listening to this audio book, and I am still motivated and having fun. I have learn from this book, No Sweat, how to motivate myself to exercise everyday in the gym or at home at my own pace and on my own time. By following Dr. Segar's MAP method, I am also motivated to eat a sensible diet most days. I have lost 5 lbs in one month. The MAP info has helped me enjoy exercising again. I have started working out first thing in the morning. The MAP method is just what I needed to motivate myself to work toward my goals without struggling. Who knew a positive attitude toward exercise could cause one to exercise, enjoy it, and lose weight. Duh!

Narrator is terrible

The narrator sounds like a child. She does character voices that are fully grating. She mispronounces words - my favorite Panplona for Pamplona. The lack of gravity in her voice makes the writer's voice less credible. And something annoying with her "s" pronunciation made it so challenging for me to complete the book.
The content of the book is good, if a little dry & pedantic.

Good Principles, Grating Narration

What would have made No Sweat better?

Chiefly, a narrator with a inclination to stay in a lower pitch range.

Would you recommend No Sweat to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend a book/hardcopy. This production is a little hard to listen through.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

There was an almost teen-aged sing song quality to her pitch and pace which brought me out of the material an grated on my ears. There are plenty of female voices that actually do a generally better job of holding our human attentions.

Any additional comments?

The one thing that I "take away" for this one is that every bit of movement counts, instead of requiring that I need to achieve a threshold "workout" level. I think that this is valuable.

Terrible Narration

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narration was a huge distraction from the book's content. I thought I could overlook it, but I was wrong. Instead of listening, I found myself analyzing the mispronunciations, most of which involved the addition of "sh" to words ("choleshterol," "shtretches," "shtructured"). It drove me crazy!

Any additional comments?

Read the hard copy instead.

No sweat

The books theme is very repetitive and reminds me more of a self help book. Teaching you to take time for you and that diet is as important as exercise. Overall not a bad book but noting I would listen to again.

Not for me

I'm not saying the books bad, but I just couldn't get into it. Also, I couldn't stand the narrators voice, but that's more of a personal preference.

Good book, awful narration

The content is good and helpful but the narrator is just awful. It's like being talked to by a primary school kid.

Had to give up listening to this one!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I may recommend the written version of this. The content seemed interesting but the narrator's voiced grated on me so much I had to stop listening

How could the performance have been better?

This is the first time I have ever stopped listening to an audio book based on the narrator's performance alone. The writer is a middle aged respected sports scientist, however the narrator sounds like a none-too bright 15 year old girl. Her voice was grating and simply incongruous to the content.

Really motivating

Where does No Sweat rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right up the top

What did you like best about this story?

It explained everything really well and made me look at my exercise habits totally differently

Which character – as performed by Lyndsay Vitale – was your favourite?

Not relevant

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The idea that exercise should be something I enjoy and it doesn't matter how much or how little but just that I'm doing it

Any additional comments?

This is an audiobook I will listen to again and again
