Another ending you won't see coming, leaving room for a fourth book....

Seven years after their marriage, Jason Scarsdale and Dani Mueller have faced some tough times. The death of Jason’s daughter, Shannon, has rocked them. Jason has understandably struggled to carry on, and their marriage is facing a crossroads. Using a trip to D.C. to save their floundering marriage with a second honeymoon, Dani’s world is shaken once again when Jason goes missing.

With an unrecognizable dead body and a detective with a vendetta against women, Dani is in the cross hairs as she tries to find Jason before they can put her away for his murder. Hatchett, Malloy, Mueller, and Scarsdale, four unique characters drive the excitement and suspense of author Alan Brenham’s third novel in The Jason Scarsdale series. Taking us across the pond, from D.C. to London as Dani hunts down leads, skips out on bail, and is determined to get to the bottom of Jason’s disappearance.

With the absence of Scarsdale in most of this book, understandably Dani is our lead narrator and main character. I enjoyed this change of perspective as the plot continued to revolve entirely around Jason, but from the view of the suspect, widow, wife. This unique point of view change at this juncture of the the series added an additional level of intrigue and excitement as we traversed the bumpy road of Dani’s innocence.

Questioning motives, police procedure, and referencing Dani’s background as a defense attorney showed Brenham’s range for writing. Stepping out of his law enforcement boots and using his criminal prosecutor and defense attorney experience, Brenham provides a realistic and twisted case across the continents. Once again, an ending you won’t see coming, leaving readers anxious for a book four….

Lies galore

My head is still reeling from listening to this. This was the first book in the series that I've had the pleasure of experiencing. It was utterly fantastic. The lengths Dani went to in search of answers broke my heart. She's one strong resilient woman. She had been to h&ll and back in her life and now this!!! She danced with death multiple times in her search for answers and truth. Hatcher was a vicious nemesis. Wow. Malloy seems very promising, and I'm hoping they get together. Both are great people and deserve it. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a good job bringing the characters and story to life.
