Awesome

I listened to this book in 2 sittings! I really enjoyed the characters relationships and family dynamics. I did guess the ending but really enjoyed listening. The narrators were all excellent!! A very well written and sensitive book. 😍

Awesome

By far one of the most gripping books I've listened to. Perfectly executed by the readers.

Great book

Just a bit let down by the narrators. They are supposed to be sisters but had such opposite voices to the point of it being comical. one spoke like a chipmunk the other sounded like a sloth under sedation. The most annoying part was having to turn the volume up when sloth spoke and turn it back down when the chip monk spoke

Brilliant

I loved this. The characters were very believable and I especially liked the descriptions of how hard it can be to look after a baby. The trial was well paced and the different perspectives kept me guessing though towards the end I guessed who did it.

Gripping story let down by narration

This is such a well-written, carefully plotted story. It kept me guessing till near the end, and I liked the gradual reveal of key details that nudge you first in one direction and then in another. Really enjoyed it, and will definitely look for more by this author.

One little niggle - I found myself getting really distracted by how often the author uses variations of the phrase "And there it was.", "And here we are.", "And there they were." - not a big deal, I suppose, but it felt like it was said at least once per chapter! Still, the story was strong enough for me to forgive it.

What did stop me from giving it 5 stars, though, was the narrator of Martha (the main narrator). I know she was probably adopting a tired, hopeless, sad voice for the part, but to me it just grated on my nerves. I had to rewind parts that were too softly mumbled, and I kind of wanted to give her a shake and tell her to put a bit more energy into reading!

However, my 2 stars for the narration doesn't take away from a 5 star story - thoroughly recommended!

A bit long winded.

This started out promising but dragged on a bit .I guessed the outcome from about halfway through . I had to speed up the narration as the main character spoke every word so slowly . If this has been a written book I would have gone to the end to find the outcome and missed all the boring bit in the middle .

brilliant peace of fiction

I really like the multiple narration in this book, I love books which do that, as the characters feel more like different characters, than I feel they do with just one voice. I enjoy how this slowly unfolds, the trial and the past at the same time. The twist at the end bought a tear to my eye. I would consider this as a legal thriller, with Psychological suspense mixed in. Can't wait to read her next book.

Worth a listen!

A realistic thriller with a believable storyline that could easily happen in real life. Slightly slow paced second half that only aided the character development as opposed to the storyline. For that reason I would say it isn’t one of those “shocking” thrillers full of “OMG moments” that leaves your jaw hanging (my preference). However in its own right it is fantastically written, with characters who you really start to care about. Should definitely be on your lists 👌🏼
