Best Sleep Book ever!

This Book was so helpful. I will recommend it to any parent. I wish I would've have received it before my son was even born, it would've helped prevent a lot of sleepless nights.
I have been using the Techniques for almost 2 weeks. My son went from waking 3-4 times a night to only 1 time. The best thing I learned from this book was that I was putting my son to sleep way too late. It's hard because I work full-time so I had to give up some time with him in the evening. The time we gave up in the evening, has now been replaced with morning play time... Because I have actually had sleep!

Good

I really like Kate 's gentle approach to helping you modify your sleeping situation if it's not currently working for you. I love how she's not a Baby Trainer but rather gives a Parenting Tool Kit.

Haven't really used any of her techniques though, except one. When DS was a newborn I used the "Kate pull-out method" to remove my nipple from my sleeping baby's mouth and apply light pressure under his chin to keep him from rooting again.
And I think this quote is from her book: "Whatever you're doing isn't a problem until it becomes a problem for you." So simple, yet so profound.

Life Saver

I found out about this book on a friends facebook page. I have to say that it's a must to buy this book before your baby arrives but if not anytime before they're 1 yo is a good time. This book was very appealling to me because I didn't want to do the "CIO" method like I did with my13 yo eons ago. It was just too hard on me and her, I was young and didn't know any better. This book is such a "loving parent" to say and she feels the same way I do about my baby. After two weeks the night time routine has worked like a charm for me and we're more rested for sure. I'm still working on the nap routine with the my stubborn baby but this book is well worth the money. If you're looking for a loving way to sleep train your baby and not do the harsh "CIO" method, this is the book for you. Highly recommended.

Anything but cry it out

We have research now that we didn't have before... Cortisol floods the brain when babies cry. Babies learn to trust and feel worthy when they are responded to, and we no longer say you can spoil a baby by responding to their needs. So how on earth CIO has become an acceptable way to treat our children is frightening. If you want non abusive and humane options this is the book to consider.

Sleepytime!

I recommend this book to anybody who is having trouble getting their baby to sleep at night, or wants to listen how to transition into having a night-time routine for their baby, and does not want to make their baby "cry it out." I even went back and listen it after I had my second baby, and revised some of the things I was doing.

Alternative solutions to the dry it out method

Love this book and the suggestions! It’s so nice to have found a book that gives alternative solutions to the “just let them cry” solution that so many friends and family have suggested. I follow a lot of the Attachment Parenting practices and this aligns nicely.

A Wonderful Alternative to "Sleep Training"

My son is almost one and he has been waking every 2 hours pretty consistently since he was a few weeks old. I was desperate to finally get at least four hours of uninterrupted sleep. This book has helped us achieve that! I would highly recommend this book to anyone with realistic sleep goals for their child (meaning, your child probably isn't going to sleep 8+ hours straight every night). The author is a mother who has used these methods on her own children when she was at the end of her sleepless rope. She knows what it's like to feel like a zombie with no hope of ever feeling rested again. And, she also knows how it feels on the other side. If you can put in the time to change your family's habits, you can finally get some sleep!

The best sleep book available.

I would recommend this book to all new parents before baby is born as well as those who are in the midst of a baby sleeping problem. The book is easy to read, is full of a wealth of methods for helping baby sleep and is written from a very loving perspective. Several suggestions were very helpful to us. While many suggestions are common sense, they are great for new parents (like us).

Compassionate and friendly ideas that work!

I bought this book and read it while pregnant. My mother had let us children cry ourselves to sleep; my sister did the same with her children. I knew I would not do that for my baby. Being a first time mom and not knowing much of anything, this book gave me the confidence that I would be able to love and care for my baby and help her have a good night's sleep. It wasn't until she was 2 months old that we implemented the bedtime routine. At that point, she was waking every two hours to breastfeed. We estabished a bedtime of 7 p.m. and she worked up to just waking at midnight, 2, 4, and 6 and from there just 2, 4, and 6, then 4 and 6, and now she goes down around 7 p.m. and I actually have to wake her some mornings at 6:30 a.m. to breastfeed. Babies really do need a lot of sleep -- I had friends scoff at a 7:00 bedtime, but it has worked wonders. Other than that, the book is just wonderful and is written with compassionate and friendliness. You can take what you need from this book and build your confidence in yourself.

Empowering!

I am so tired of the pressure that is placed on a mother to get her baby to be "good". This book is a wonderful tool. It gives you option after option and doesn't give "rules". You take what you can use and what works for you in your family. I love it when she says you can do whatever it takes. . . even if it means nursing again to get your baby to sleep. It gives me a huge sense of control to allows me to forgive myself instead of thinking I'm a bad mother for not following the rules.

I bought this book for my cousin who has a 6 month old baby girl. She was sleeping in a recliner because she could not get her daughter to sleep for nothing when she tried putting her in her crib.

Great purchase!!

Great purchase! Way more than I have from “baby wise” and “what to expect when you’re expecting”. They have answered every question I have which u don’t normally get from any other book you buy.

A Valuable Guide

I skipped the intro and sleep science stuff since I've already listens plenty about it. Book does have one specific plan but rather has some good ideas for different circumstances. Excited to listen this. I have heard such great things about this book. It came fast too!

A lot of great suggestions to try

While it didn't get my baby to sleep, it gave me a solid bedtime routine. This was a great book with lots of tips. Her methods worked for our baby as much as we hoped, but it was still a helpful book.
