This Story Is Sexy

Publisher's Summary

She has a secret, an ability, a curse, and if anyone found out, it could cost her everything.

Erin just wants a normal life. She doesn't want to be the daughter of one of the most influential men in the known universe nor does she want the nightmarish power that eats at her night and day. So, what does she want? It's simple really. She wants a kick-ass job and to feel just a little normal. Easy, right?

Graduating at the top of The Academy can give her everything she wants, but she has to stay focused. She doesn't have time for the half-human man who makes her heart sputter, even if he intrigues her, and even if for the first time when things get rough, she finds out, to her surprise, that she's not facing the threat alone.

But can Erin really handle her dangerous responsibilities, an overprotective alpha male, her assignments at the academy, and a deadly plot she never imagined or will she fail in more ways than one?

Nightmare Hunter is a full-length, steamy, paranormal, sci-fi romance. This means there are plenty of smoking-hot sex scenes, a sassy heroine, and a plot that will keep you guessing. It takes place in a world where handsome non-humans are just part of the world.

An interesting if rather underdeveloped story....

Nightmare Hunter is an interesting and exciting paranormal romance, but I felt that the world building and character development were lacking. I would have liked to know so much more about the two main characters, Erin and Caleb. The sex scenes were extremely steamy without being crude, and I really enjoyed the personalities of Erin and Caleb separately and as a couple. Both have suffered extreme prejudice in the past: Erin for being the daughter of an elite warrior more dedicated to his duty than to his daughter, and Caleb for the sin of being mixed race - half alien and half human. Both shine at the academy they are attending, but they allow their past hurts and self-doubt to ruin any chance of a long-term relationship. Or do they? The ending of the book is definitely a cliffhanger, but I enjoyed the first one enough to plan to listen to the next.

Nila Brereton Hagood does a good job with the narration. I especially liked her accent for Caleb. She differentiates well between characters, and she adds a good amount of emotion without being overly dramatic. My only complaint is that I found the phrase at the end of each chapter saying that it was the end of that chapter very jarring and distracting.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for an honest review.

Are you ready to get sucked in?

This is a great story that pulls you in right from the beginning. How do you make a name for your self when your father is the admiral? Well Erin is going to do just that. I love the world that Lacey has built and you honestly get sucked in to the story for the very beginning. Listening to the book on Audible allowed me to stay immersed in the world while getting other stuff done.

Rather disappointing

I thought reading the blurb for this audiobook that it sounded like a good story, but I found it to be disjointed and I just couldn’t seem to like either main character. They seemed shallow and not very sympathetic, though I liked the male character more than the heroine who seemed spoiled and selfish to me. Also, the narration was all wrong for this book. The hero’s voice in a female pitched false Irish brogue was very off putting. The book also ended on a very unsatisfactory cliffhanger, which there was no warning of. I’m not going to buy the next audiobook, so this story will be swiftly forgotten, I’m afraid.

Loved the book

I have read this book and really enjoyed it so I wanted to check out the audio book. There was some places in the beginning that it seemed like the narrator might have been uncomfortable using some of the more colorful words. There also seemed to be some background noise that was slightly distracting. I absolutely love this authors work, the audio could use a little work.

blew me away!

absolutely loved the story! its a first from this author and I don't often read this kind of genre with books but it absolutely blew me away as I was able to imagine the world they were in and the way things were for them.

as this is my first review for an audiobook.. im not sure if the performance part is regarding the narrator but if so.. it kind of dampened things for me. Hearing the voice and the things that was going on in the story made me easily envision a much older hero/heroine.

Nice!

This was my first audiobook- great story, world building and adventure. Interesting characters with smoldering tension and sexy scenes. Initially had a tough time listening to someone else read- not crazy about the voice choice- but found it an enjoyable way to pass time on my drive to/from work. Patiently waiting for the next addition.

Hunter and lovers

I have read the book and it was excellent, but listening to the audio is amazing!! The narrator is very good but would to love to have a male doing the male parts.Feels like you are in the story as you close your eyes and really get into the story. The main characthers are brought together by different feelings for each other. Love the living ship. Would love to listen to all of these books in audiable. Averi and Lacey are great writers and it shows in this book. T

YA/NA romance with sex

I don't know what was worse, plot or narrator. The main theme was a childish romance, and the narrator was so horrible, that my ears ached. If the book was little longer, I would definitely give up listening.
