An Under-Appreciated Author's Best Work
I loved this book as a kid--I bought it for my daughters to listen to but ended up listening to it again myself. Ivy Ruckman is an under-appreciated children's book author, and it is a shame that more people don't read her stories. This book was inspired by true events that occurred in the 1970s, so it is a bit dated. Nevertheless, it is still an exciting, fast-paced story. I like the values of courage, self-reliance and determination that children can glean from it. It should be a must-read.

Tranquil Listening Experience
This chapter book is a teens faveorite! it's also a classic that had a movie made based on it's storyline. That's awesome I love these books that haunt you for days after reading.

Based on 1980 Grand Island Tornado Outbreak
This is an excellent production and story based on an actual event that took place June 3, 1980 in Grand Island, Nebraska. It is a YA book, but its good for adults as well. The fact that it is clean, not filled with crude phrases or curse words if a big plus. I would recommend it for ages 10 and up. I will certainly introduce my grandkids to it, as we live in "Tornado Alley" in Alabama, and they will immediately grasp the predicament that Dan and Arthur found themselves in. A good listen for a short road trip, Night of the Twisters, will hold their attention. Dan and Arthur both experienced a change in attitude and a wisdom beyond their years by the end of the story. I cannot recommend this book enough.

loved it!
I have seen the movie many times. Love the movie. So now I can say I love the book. The voice change for each character definitely makes the book more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

I Grew up in GI, NE
I lived threw this tornado that happen June 3, 1980. Our family lived in the Capital Heights area. When the tornado warning sirens went off, my best friend & I were cruising South Locust . We made it to my house & into the basement with my family . Every other house was gone.
