Publisher's summary

Night

The town of Yocum Valley is in for the longest, darkest night it has ever known. A night that will make some doubt their sanity, and others fear for their lives. A night when the heinous curse of its tainted ancestry will rise, in the form of a living horror, to seek savage vengeance....

Winter

The beast will stalk during the coldest, cruelest winter on record, in a place that is frozen, snowbound...and trapped at the mercy of something unspeakable, with a taste for human flesh and a thirst for human blood....

Death

It’s waiting in the cold and dark to strike, again and again. And the terrified, disbelieving citizens are about to find themselves under siege - by something partly human partly animal...and completely deadly.

An okay take on the werewolf legend

Although not a great story it’s entertaining enough. The narrator does an okay job given this is his first time. Some of his attempts at narrative for the younger characters left a lot to be desired and bordered on being down right annoying such as when speaking for the Simmons little girl Cathy and even the main male character who is a teenage boy. While I know that this is no fault of the writer it is off putting considering this is an audio book. However, all in all the overall story is good enough to keep you entertained throughout the duration.

Unexpectedly good!!

It all starts when a man dies! An elderly lady tells everyone that unless he is buried properly right away, the curse will awaken. Nobody listens because the ground is too hard, and they call her a kook. But when Ernie is doing his rounds, he encounters the curse and nothing is ever the same for him again!

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot! It starts out slowly, but the tension builds continuously until the curse takes effect and then it ramps up even more. I enjoyed the take on the werewolf and how the curse takes effect, it was a nice twist. The characters were all well written and developed. It was easy to connect with them and become invested in their tale.

In all, this was an unexpectedly good read! I wasn't too sure what to expect, but what I got was a great werewolf read. I look forward to more from this author.

This seems to be Jon Oaks' first narration and he did really well. He was clear, easy to follow and read this well. I did find his voices for certain characters were very similar, but since it's his first time, I'm impressed with how good he did.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

A Great Listen

Night, Winter, and Death. A great read/listen, scary-no! but great fun to listen too. Characters are larger than life which gives the book humour in places. One of the best reads/listens this year.

Night,Winter and Death

Loved it! A perfect old fashioned monster book!Written in the 1990's,this book is before cell phones or computers. It is when you had to trudge through snow to ask questions about the possibility of shape shifters.I loved all the reminders of the age.Jon Oak was perfect as narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Fun Gory Creature Feature

So this book is from 1990 or earlier, it definitely shows. The beginning drags a little with some stereotypical archetypes and a number of characters you're meant to care about, but half of them come off too unlikable. The whole small town vibe is a boon to many stories but here just allows awful behavior. By the time these bummers start to add up the horror starts. That part is solid with all the gore and intensity you could want. It carries the last half of the book and keeps it a fun experience.

The narration is good, though I'll admit there were a few times I wish the narrator didn't try female voices. On the whole however he did good and his narration aided the frenetic intensity of the work.

I received the review code for this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this honest review. It's a pretty straight forward creature feature but it's fun and definitely worth checking out if that sounds up your alley.

The Curse

This is not your typical werewolf story when the changes occur with full moons the horror starts when Horatio is not buried and stored until the ground thaws. Poor Ernie Mulligan ex-cop who does paroling for several companies including the cemetery where he encounters the ancient curse and the action and horror begins. Enjoyed the character development favorites were Zach, Mona and Scottie and Mrs. Gladys Roberts. Recommend if you enjoy horror and werewolves. Good story, but has anoying issues

Why, why. Why can some authors not write a female character without describing her breasts every other sentence. Or over sexualizing E.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. she does. Suoer cringey. Overall a good story but come one
