One ledger. One woman caught in the crosshairs.
When small-town waitress Iris Kennedy befriends a quiet older man named Gus, she never imagines he’s the infamous Night Watchman—a former Russian spy on the run from his own countrymen.
But when Gus is violently abducted and leaves Iris with a coded ledger full of deadly secrets, she becomes the target of a ruthless international conspiracy. Now, hunted by sleeper agents and betrayed by the man she thought she loved, Iris must trust Luke Dakota—a no-nonsense CIA operative with scars of his own.
As the Scorpion Team races to decrypt the ledger and stop a catastrophic attack on U.S. soil, Iris is plunged into a world of lies, espionage, and danger, where no one is who they seem…and trusting the wrong person could cost her everything—including her daughter’s life.
A race-against-time romantic thriller packed with raw emotion, betrayal, and high-stakes danger, Night Watchman will keep you breathless until the final shot.

The characters were really engaging and easy to fall in love with. I always love reading books in a series where characters I know make an appearance - or are a big part of the story. This book was well written and held my attention and kept me wanting to listen but I don’t care for virtual voice at all. It is herky jerky and puts inflections on the wrong words. It really takes away from a great experience.

Good story, don’t like virtual voice!
