Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before.

'Don't put your trust in revolutions. They always come round again. That's why they're called revolutions. People die, and nothing changes.'

For a policeman, there can be few things worse than a serial killer loose in your city. Except, perhaps, a serial killer who targets coppers, and a city on the brink of bloody revolution.

For Commander Sam Vimes, it all feels horribly familiar. Caught on the roof of a very magical building during a storm, he's found himself back in his own rough, tough past without even the clothes he was standing up in when the lightning struck. Living in the past is hard, especially when your time travel companion is a serial killer who knows where you live. But he must survive, because he has a job to do: track down the murderer and change the outcome of the rebellion.

The problem is: if he wins, he's got no wife, no child, no future...

The Discworld novels can be listened to in any order but Night Watch is the sixth book in the City Watch series.

'The best Discworld book in the whole world ever. Until next time.' SFX

I have been waiting for ages for this revised narration to make it to Audible for sale in the United States. John Culshaw is simply brilliant in his interpretation of city watch characters, including in especially Sam Vimes. I first started reading the Disc World stories when I picked up this one in the supermarket. I had read Small Gods previously and just couldn’t get into it. But when I met Sam Vimes and Company, I was hooked. I tore through all of them plus the wonderful Stephen Briggs audio versions. But Culshaw reigns supreme in the City Watch stories. Incidentally, Indira Varma is absolutely wonderful as Tiffany Aching and the witches of Lancre insert Terry’s other brilliant story series. May he rest in peace, he died too soon, and no one, simply no one rivals him.

My all-time favorite Pratchett and Vimes narrator

I have yet to hear a “rerun” listening to this one no matter how many times I listen over again. This is my favorite. (Do I say that a lot about the City Watch stories? Yes. Plus the witches. ) But… This one is so complex, multilayered, well emoted,, It has texture, depth, heft, color and fragrance. All the words are magic. And that on a flat world with time travel and zombies. You’d think that would be a light read, right? Nope. Seriously? Yes, very. Excuse me, I’m diving back in!

Pratchett, Culshaw, and Vimes… Sublime! Resist the urge to skim. Pay Attention, it soooo rewards!

but some of the caricatures were difficult to understand because of the narrator. better to give up acting and just read.

this is probably my favorite Pratchett book

I have read most of the diskworld books and this one is one of the best in my opinion

Great book similar to terry’s other works

I’m glad the rest of the series isn’t as hard and angry as this book, but I am also glad that this one is.

Possibly the best Discworld book

Sam Vimes + Sam Vimes. And I'm here for it!
Falling deeper and deeper in love with the Night Watch, and this time around with the old crew instead of the new recruits. Can't get enough, but I can definitely get the next one!

Love them copper stories.

Night Watch is one of, if not the best Discworld books-though darker and with less humor than many. Maybe not the best choice if you have never before read any Pratchett novels/Discworld books.
The narrator on the “Guards” series is really fantastic-he’s got distinct voices for each character, they all sound different, and the majority of them actually sound like what I imagine in my head when I’m reading the print copy.
I listened to this a while ago, and had to give it some time before a re-listen, as it does hit hard. There isn’t a lot of violence, but the violence is personalized and I think because of that, it sinks in differently. It’s a great listen, by a brilliant writer, brought to life by a wonderful narrator.

Fantastic Book, Amazing Narrator

For me, it is just before the halfway part that this book becomes important. I will take my hard boiled egg now, ple.

It's Sir Terry Pratchett at his best

Great story, great characters, timely themes, a despicable villain, fun references to earlier books, character backstory, amazing voice acting

What a great book

Night Watch is possibly my favorite Discworld novel. Granted some of the humor of the others isn’t there and the story has a harsh ending. But STP had a harsh message to get across and no other author could have made it so immersive and compelling.

Possibly the best
