Publisher's summary

The New York Times best-selling author and the Edgar Award-winning author are back with a new a new novel featuring Kendra Michaels - hired gun for both the CIA and FBI.

Born blind, Kendra Michaels spent the first 20 years of her life living in the darkness. Then, thanks to a revolutionary medical procedure developed by England's Night Watch Project, she was given the gift of sight. Her highly-developed senses (honed during her years in the dark), combined with her newfound vision, have made her a remarkable investigator, sought after by law-enforcement agencies all over the country. But her newest case finds her uncovering a deadly truth about the shadowy organization that has given her so much.

Kendra is surprised when she is visited by Dr. Charles Waldridge, the researcher who gave her sight. But all is not well with the brilliant surgeon; he's troubled by something he can't discuss with Kendra. When Waldridge disappears that very night, Kendra is on the case, recruiting government agent-for-hire Adam Lynch to join her on a trail that leads to the snow-packed California mountains. There they make a gruesome discovery: the corpse of one of Dr. Waldridge's associates, brutally murdered in the freezing snow. But it's only the first casualty in a white-knuckle confrontation with a deadly enemy who will push Kendra to the limits of her abilities. Soon she must fight for her very survival as she tries to stop the killing and unearth the deadly secret of Night Watch.

Best in the series

I love these books and I really enjoyed this storyline. Much stronger writing than the other books but they have always been enjoyable. This is a book you can listen to and go back and enjoy the first set of books. Great characters and very enjoyable.
These books get better and better and I can't wait for the next one.

Waste of time

I continue listening to this book hoping it would get better it didnot. I would recommend this book to the author because they need to read their own works or have a someone who knows their work read it it didn't have any solid action I fell to sleep a few times. There was no mystery to it it was like listening to a winding child. I was able to figure out every move before the move. This was why I stop listening to the Eve books. Now they have made another female character pathetic.

So boring I had to start skipping

I am a big Iris Johansen fan. Words cannot describe my let down with this book. First, the story was so incredibly boring and long and drug out. There were hardly any moments where I listened with any thing more than half-hearted attention. I finally had to start skipping to simply get to the end. The thing I was most excited about is the relationship development between Lynch and Kendra. After this book, I am convinced that the Johansen duo are anti romance. In fact, I had to download an über romance and toggle between books because I was left so unfulfilled by this story. Why must a likely romance be drug over multiple installments of a series?! It isn't even natural to get within 1 minute of sex and then suddenly realize you shouldn't until the next book. The final insult was the ending. Awful, awful ending. Throughout the book i kept thinking how completely stupid Kendra was acting. Additionally, I thought the story line was so boring, attempting to rescue this brilliant Doctor yadda, yadda. The end nicely tied the whole hot mess together to leave us hanging with two adults that can't figure out how to have a date and the future fate of another awful installment with this doctor saga...which I will not purchase. Epic fail.

Contrived, implausible, waste of a credit

I am so annoyed I gave this series another chance after returning the last book. The author paints this heroine as beyond intelligent with almost super powers of observation, yet she makes stupid, reckless immature decisions just to drive the plot. Even a 10 year old could predict with accuracy how her decisions would cause more harm than good, puts others at risk, and puts her in a position that requires others in extreme danger trying to rescue her. I skipped two chapters just to get through it. Ugh!

GOOD STORY

I have enjoyed all of the books in this series. Elisabeth Rogers is the perfect narrator for the series. Moving on to Book 5!

Not her best but still enjoyable

There is a section that is all about Kendra's past that seemed unnecessary, I tuned out during that section and didn't lose anything. The rest of the book follows the typical scenario.
There were two very annoying parts; the first is the long pauses between chapters, I thought my device quit playing, it happen a lot more than was tolerable. The second extremely annoying part of the book was Kendra ALWAYS saying "detach, concentrate" OMG I rolled my eyes every time, which was a lot.
If you can overlook these few flaws you'll enjoy the rest of the story.

Great Book

One more Kendra Michaels adventure in the books. I especially enjoyed that in this book the relationship between Adam Lynch & Kendra was explored, but still left me wanting more at the end of the story. There is still a lot of unknowns about what exactly Adam Lynch does & his romantic feelings for Kendra. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens in their lives!!!

Makes ya wonder

Really makes ya wonder if that restoration of sight can truly happen, If not, great creativity and that includes the other senses. I didn't realize there was 12 novels in this series, so I gotta go back and get those from the beginning asap!
NARRATION was great.
