This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
He’s a master of disguise. She’s not who she seems. Seely Acosta’s new teammates at Knight Tactical Protection know him as a former Marine Raider, but that’s only half the story. Mired deep in a tangled web of multi-national espionage he can never discuss, his last deployment cost too much, leaving him broken in mind and spirit. Retreat seemed the best option, until the men at Knight Tactical persuade him to rejoin the land of the living. And now he’s spotted an intruder trying to infiltrate their operation. Angie, the vivacious FBI analyst they want to hire, isn’t who she claims to be. No way he’ll let her destroy his new life. His new friends. With her past threatening to shatter the safe new world she built for herself, Angie Michaelson grabs onto the job offer from Knight Tactical like the lifeline it is. No one, not even her best friend, knows the real truth. She’s in hiding, has been for almost ten years. She thought she might escape her heritage, but the past won’t die. Nothing will keep her tormentor from finishing what he started. Not her friends. Not her new-found faith. Not the quiet, honorable, deadly man who may or may not turn her over to the enemy. Don’t like the AI voice as I prefer a human reading the words. Technology can’t replace feelings

This book has enjoyable characters, great action, mystery, and suspense, a nice love story, and a Christian message sprinkled into the story. It is a totally enjoyable and entertaining book! The Virtual Voice version is pretty good. I'd give that part 3 or 4 stars. Settled on 4 stars as it is better than some VV books i've listened to.

Very entertaining story, pretty good Virtual Voice

James repeats the two main characters’ inner angsts numerous times rendering words redundant and unnecessary. The book is painfully slow to advance any character arc and the romance is stuck at the close friends wanting more even to the last word. I like clean romance, but this one was non existent because the characters were “stuck” in abnormal thinking patterns almost until the last word. The virtual voice falls flat making all characters seem female with very little emotional range.

Repetitive
