Once a party of ideas, the GOP has degenerated into being a party of personalities. Nothing shows this more clearly than the career of Clarence Thomas, whom a Republican president of moderate sensibilities nominated to the US Supreme Court 25 years ago this month. Whereas Donald Trump has taken liberal positions on everything from the minimum wage to the Second Amendment, Thomas has over the years articulated a robust version of conservatism rooted in our nation’s founding principles and in the natural rights of the individual. Trump appeals to raw passions; Thomas talks to hearts and minds.
"The Constitution of Clarence Thomas" is from the July 11, 2016 issue of National Review.
Would you try another book from John Yoo and/or Mark Ashby?
No this sounds like a person who has a "group hate think" mentality. No actual content just conjectures and personal feelings.
Would you ever listen to anything by John Yoo again?
How could the performance have been better?
Just the facts
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Sadness and disappointment.
Any additional comments?
Facts are more important than your feelings. Thinking not your personal opinions is the way Judge Thomas presents himself. Disagreeing with people not putting labels is the way he presents himself. Your feelings about President Trump overshadows everything else. Sad
