Publisher's summary

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

For three days battle has raged in the snow around the great city of Tar Valon. In the city, a Foretelling of the future is uttered. On the slopes of Dragonmount, the immense mountain that looms over the city, is born an infant prophesied to change the world. That child must be found before the forces of the Shadow have an opportunity to kill him.

Moiraine Damodred, a young Accepted soon to be raised to Aes Sedai, and Lan Mandragoran, a soldier fighting in the battle, are set on paths that will bind their lives together. But those paths are filled with complications and dangers, for Moiraine, of the Royal House of Cairhien, whose king has just died, and Lan, considered the uncrowned king of a nation long dead, find their lives threatened by the plots of those seeking power.

New Spring begins Moiraine and Lan's quest to find the Dragon Reborn that will lead to the events of The Eye of the World...and their fateful meeting with Rand al'Thor.

New Spring is a perfect jumping-on point for fantasy listeners wanting to know more about The Wheel of Time and the forthcoming TV show.

What an enjoyable Listen

Completely new to Robert Jordan and his works. Thouroughly recommend this as an engrossing and well written work. The narrators where excellent and enhanced the whole experience. I'm encouraged now to listen to the whole series....the whole unabridged series.

New Spring--One Beginning

New Spring is the prequel to Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series. IT was added later after the success of the series.

The Birth of the Dragon was foretold shortly before his birth on Mount Dragon By and Aes Sedai with Foretelling. Moraine and Suian are Aes Sedai in training and are, with others trainees, sent out to find the child prophesied to be born on the slopes of Dragon Mount.

The White Tower knows of his birth but so do the Shadowfriends amongst the Aes Sedai. The lines have been drawn, but who would prevail.

Superb Start

Narrators are both excellent. The story is intricate and bold, quirky and intelligent. This was a great addition to the WoT series.

one of the best

the wheel of time is one of the best stories I've ever read. It only got better when I listened to it. I have been deeply moved by this story. I can not recommend a better series to read because it's written by both of my favorite authors!

Read this before the other books

I read this before I read the other wheel of Time books. I was interested in how a prequel would be without knowing the rest of the story and I was not disappointed. this book is good in its own right.

Ah. The Wheel of Time

In my opinion, the best of fantasy stories. Owning the whole set, and having read them repeatedly I feel this is a must read for fantasy readers. The feel of a very long story that doesn't have the dread of coming to an end, although it is complete by then.

A Great Stand-Alone Inro to the Wheel of Time

I very much enjoyed this prequel to the WOT series. I think Jordan got back to the style of writing that made me love the first few books in the series. It was also really great to see Moiraine again, one of my favourite characters. I wish she played a larger role in the other books. I thought this book did a great job of filling us in on the beginnings of Moiraine and Lan and how they came to start out on their quest to find the Dragon Reborn.

And as satisfying as it was to get all those extra details and see everything tied in so nicely to the WOT series, this book does well as a stand alone read. So if you're not sure you really want to read the other eleven or so books in the series this one would be a great way to see if you'd enjoy them without really feeling the need to go on just to see what happens if you don't like it. And a word of warning to those who do go on to read the rest...the series has no end, the author recently died and the final three book are being written by Brandon Sanderson.

This was also the first book I've done in audio and I have to say I'm a fan. It's the lazy man's way and I love that I can listen while I work!

nice intro to capstone fantasy

There's a lot I'd missed in Jordan's writing when I first read this series at 12. Going back is like going into beloved treasure, only to find new beloved treasure. I just wish he'd explained more how Siuan went from the character in this book to the one we meet in the series.

Greatness

I've gone through every single book in the wheel of time and this is the last for me. I did all 14 books in 4 months. They are amazing, and this one is no different. The only problem with this book is that it left me wanting more!!!!

Great addition

This book added a firm backstlory to the series. Like tying another knot in a weave.
